Yes...way overpriced compare to SATA SSD enclosures.

The worst part from my experience lately is that the enclosure seem to be a wild goose chase, not only for the price with a reputable brand but the usb c cable that for whatever reason the enclosure are "picky" with ie alternative high speed usb c available at home or wherever you have it at cannot get the same speed as the cable that came with the enclosure. Annoying

I had to look twice, for this price it should come with a 256gb drive included. This is a terrible price for a bare enclosure and yes I am aware that the prices of nvme drives have gone up, but this is a bare metal box with a wire

These are 40Gbs enclosures and not the typical 10Gbps which is the reason they are higher. Still you can find a few 40Gbs enclosures near $50 though at Amz. These were going over $100 just a little over a year ago.

If you haven't already bought, would urge waiting for the 80 Gbps USB4v2/TB5's.

Like every USB upgrade, there's vastly more stability even if you have USB4 ports. I suspect most TB5 sleds will also work with TB3, but no promises.

Reminds me of that enclosure from OWC. Might as well be a doppelganger w/ the price to match 😅: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPYQPCVP

Check out this reviewer from Amazon. What do you think?

"Excellent product for the price; it's a beautiful metal case, but it gets extremely hot as soon as you start using it. I'm not sure what else to say, perhaps if you're in a place below 20°C and below 60°F it works extremely well, then the speed drops. It also works faster than the internal SSD on a MacBook. But above that temperature, it becomes a problem. Don't use an M.2 drive smaller than 2 terabytes. It's incredibly fast, and if you copy 4K HDR movies, you'll fill it up quickly. Just as vibration would bother you in a traditional hard drive in complete silence, the heat here will be even more of a problem."

Get one with a fan. Makes a big difference in heat dissipation.

I just bought this one last week. It worked for a day and was disconnecting. After some troubleshooting, I decided to swap the cable to a flexible softer Anker one. It turns out that these older style stiff-usb cables break when they fold them up and get get crimped inside the box. Anyways, it has been 100% stable after doing that. Its just ironic as Ugreen'specialty are cables lol?? They should know better and use flexible modern cables or don't let them get crimped inside the shipping box. I tried a few other enclosures and GOD they were so noisyy and whiny. Getting a fanless one was the win I needed.

Using Crystaldiskmark, I tested my Crucial T710
Speeds on typical 10GBps test: 990MBs
Speeds on this Ugreen 40Gbps: 4990MBs
