Oh, you touched on a piece of information that I didn't know, you're saying that not all TracFone numbers are eligible to allow the user to get a new Google voice number?
Each number, regardless of carrier, can only be used once, ever

Inactive/old phone numbers have a dormancy period can last anywhere from a few months to several years, depending on the telephone service provider's policies and regulations. During this time, the phone number is not assigned to anyone else, and any incoming calls or messages are typically greeted with a message indicating that the number is no longer in service.
Telephone service providers, such as Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, have their own policies regarding phone number reuse. Some providers may reuse phone numbers after a certain period of dormancy, while others may keep the number reserved for the original user indefinitely.

For example, Verizon's policy states that phone numbers may be reused after 30 days of inactivity, while AT&T's policy allows for reuse after 90 days. However, these policies are subject to change, and users should always check with their provider for the most up-to-date information.

FCC Regulations
In addition to provider policies, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) also regulates phone number reuse. According to the FCC, phone numbers can be reused after a certain period of time, known as the "number aging" period.

The number aging period varies depending on the type of phone number. For example, geographic numbers (e.g., 202-555-1234) can be reused after 90 days, while non-geographic numbers (e.g., 800-555-1234) can be reused after 30 days.

Forget unlocking anytime soon - unlock is the same for every Tracfone, Straight Talk and Total Wireless phone - 12 months paid service (as of Jan 20, 2026).
By the time this phone qualifies for unlocking it will be time for a newer model.

What they were saying is that for any actual phone number, that phone number can only get a Google Voice number once. They are not talking about cellular carriers reusing cellular numbers.

So, for example, I get a "new to me" cellular number assigned to my new phone. That number was owned by someone else some time ago. It does not matter how long ago.

They had gotten a GV number for that phone number at some point. So I cannot get a GV number for that cellular number now, because it already has had a GV number in its past history.

So by now, any "fresh" number to anyone is likely to have had a GV number associated with it.

365 days of paid active service is required before they will unlock it.

For a TF like the one in OP, it should be unlocked 12 months post activation since it's bundled with 1 year service.

TU for clarifying this. So, Inevitably, I've gotta ask the follow-up question.
I
Given that most phone numbers assigned to phone companies today already have had a 1 time GV account associated to that carrier's phone #, in 2026 are there any available "hacks" to get a GV phone number?
I
Or saying it another way, in 2026 how can a person obtain a new GV number if he already has 1 GV?
I
Thanks!
