This is great price and an excellent speaker. The concentric tweeter/midrange is fairly hard to find in center speakers and creates phenomenally clear dialog. It drives me nuts when dialog has big dips in frequencies, and I had no complaints with this speaker. The Debut Reference, although not concentric, is also excellent if you prefer non-metallic drivers.

I've had this speaker for years and it's worked really well for me. It was an upgrade from a Pioneer Andrew Jones center that I had used for years. When I initially bought this, I was having some major phase issues and I believe one or more of the speakers were wired out of phase internally. After replacing it, I've enjoyed this speaker.

Thank you so much! I've been eyeing this since last year's Black Friday, but there wasn't a sale for it going on. That time, it was just the SVS Prime.
After checking all the reviews for centers (looking for a 3-way) and based on my limited TV stand space, this fits the bill!

Why did you choose this one over the svs prime? I'd been waiting for that one to go on sale (and wasn't in the market on BF).

Lots of stuff to consider. This is a 6 ohms speaker. Timber matching is also important.

Debating pairing this with my Polk r700's. Have the r400, but want a 3 way center.

No I'm very happy with the 700's, the 400 leaves something to be desired

If it's not timber matched you will hear the difference when the sound travels through different front channels.

Seems ok. I have the Klipsch RP 504c that is great. Crutchfield has for $369.

Meh, only if you are extremely OCD and/or forget to level match properly.

I'm not by any means an audiophile, but there does seem to be a bit of back and forth whether one is better than the other (SVS Prime vs UC52). Some people on Reddit would say the Prime is a step up above the UC52, but I figure the UC52 has actually only been going up in price recently which may mean it's holding up well in its quality and even resell value.
In my initial research, I mostly based it on this list where the UC52 is listed pretty well next to some higher priced 3-way centers:
https://www.audiosciencereview.co...aos.28296/
And also looking at the frequency response curves for both, I figured the UC52 would have a more even response curve that is supposed to be more ideal. The SVS's seems a little wonky in the middle frequencies there and some said it would sound "bright", but I'm not sure what that may mean unless I test both. My Onkyo Receiver has DIRAC Live, so this should help with any other adjustments of the UC52 depending on my living room setup but with probably less correction than the Prime.
Elac UC52 data: https://www.audiosciencereview.co...rin.29845/
SVS Prime data: https://www.audiosciencereview.co...rin.29847/
Another thing is that when people who had both the SVS Prime and SVS Ultra compared both of them, they said the SVS Ultra was a step better and so I didn't want to put myself in this loop of thinking what if I invested a bit more for the next tier up. Meanwhile, based on these older reviews of the UC52, it's already punching above its weight-class IMO.
Lastly, just for aesthetics, I have a smaller space under the TV in my TV stand and the UC52 would look better under it. I considered the Monoprice Monolith 365C, but that wouldn't fit and the SVS Prime looked similarly a bit out of place.
