Ugh, Google Fi is charging sales tax on the full purchase price, not the after discount price.

Comes to like 17.5% in taxes when it should be 1/2 that.

The 512gb price is $1499... Therefore $850 is correct! I'm not sure if the 256gb is eligible

New FI customers can have 512gb for $999

Samsung pricing is insane. Apple is final cheaper by a mile. Samung sales are nonstarters

How to get this offer

When you buy or finance the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
  • Activate the device on Fi within 30 days
  • The person who activates must be a new Google Fi customer, and be part of your group plan
  • Keep the Fi account active for 24 months
  • Offer ends March 11, 2026 or while supplies last
  • Offer can only be used once per group member

Get reimbursed
  • Receive a $300 instant rebate at time of purchase
  • Receive an additional $500 in bill credits spread over 24 months ($20.84 per month)
  • The credit is tied to the person who activated the device
  • Taxes and fees may apply

But here's what happens if you cancel or pause service
  • Canceling service or pausing service within 120 days will invalidate the original $300 discount, which will be charged to your Google Pay account
  • Canceling service within 24 months will stop the promotion, and you will no longer receive bill credits each month
  • If you move to a different Fi plan, the bill credits will be applied to your new Fi plan
  • Any unused credit will not roll over to the next month

So in my case with 2 lines on Unlimited Standard I'd have to pay $30 more a month for Premium for 4 months ($120) making the deal essentially $770. Still better after trading in my S24 Ultra to knock off another $310 than Samsung's deal on the 256GB model with trade in.

Can someone help me confirm my math.
I'm planning on signing for a new plan.
Assuming I get the discount relatively soon,
Monthly plan cost $20+$5 (Tax) 25x4 = $100 assuming no or limited usage.
Coupon credit of - ($60)
Phone itself Ultra 512 model, 1,300-300 (instant discount) =1,000
credit -(650)
Tax $100+

~490??
(Excludes any trade in credits of existing phone.)

Thats for the new user, people here are doing existing user deal instead as FI is floating the existing user $650 off upfront deal when you open an account with flexible plan. Here are the steps

1. Open an account with flexible plan. Use unmentionable code from existing user for $60 credit.

2. Just to be safe, wait for the first bill to be generated before ordering the phone. This will take couple of days. At the very least wait for a day but I suggest waiting for the first bill generation.

3. Once the phone is shipped you need to activate the phone within 30 days. At this point another counter for new user r**f credit is also running down from 30 days. I strongly suggest you wait for that counter to hit zero before you activate the phone. All the counters will be shown on FI app-billing-Track FI saving and instant rebate.

4. Once the phone is activated on FI by downloading the FI app, you should wait for a day for the counter to go down by 1. At this point you can disable/remove the eSIM and use your current provider.

5. At no point during 120 days move the FI SIM to another phone (i.e. do not install FI app on any other phone and log into this FI account). Once the counter reaches 0 you can cancel the line or pause it for next deal.

You should sell the S24U locally for far more. I have been upgrading to latest ultra every year without paying anything during this time of the year by selling the last years model locally.

See the steps and cost below. There is only $650 discount or $300 discount not both of them together.

1. Open an account with flexible plan. Use unmentionable code from existing user for $60 credit.

2. Just to be safe, wait for the first bill to be generated before ordering the phone. This will take couple of days. At the very least wait for a day but I suggest waiting for the first bill generation.

5. At no point during 120 days move the FI SIM to another phone (i.e. do not install FI app on any other phone and log into this FI account). Once the counter reaches 0 you can cancel the line or pause it for next deal.

The total cost will be $650 + $25x5 - $60 = $715

Confused, if anyone can help... I have a paused account on the flexible plan and the offer shows for me of S26 ultra at $650. However, under my plan it shows my current device (S22 ultra originally bought on Fi 4 years ago) with a phone number tied to a Fi physical sim I had with them a very long time ago and no longer have or use. Once the S26 ultra arrives, how do I get that old phone off my account and activate the new one with an esim?
Edited to add: I did read the above steps and understand to activate the S26 Ultra by downloading the Fi app. But how do I remove the old device they still have on my account with the physical sim so that I am not paying for two lines instead of just the one required for the S26 Ultra deal?
Thanks!

Thanks for explaining. I'd say we need to add another 100+ for tax depending on location. In number 3 and 4 where can I see these counters? My online account?

Yes there will be tax on the phone price and in some states on the full price line CA which is $133 for example. You can see those counter on online account or in the app as mentioned in step 4 last sentence

It will move the service to the S26U eSIM once you run the FI app so the old pSIM will become invalid.

possible screen issue along with 8bit confusion https://x.com/tarunvats33/status/...9371102454
I just cancelled my 2 1-tb preorders , maybe some one can try and grab if it shows in stock.
I went to best buy to check the screen quality today. the screen quality is definitely lower than the s25u, it lacks sharpness and text edges are more jagged but I did not notice any uneasiness on my eyes in my 15 mins of use. Given the fact last year we did not receive the free storage upgrade but this time we did and the memory prices have increased significantly, I decided not to cancel the order but I will definitely not pay anywhere close to the full price. Very disappointed as samsung manufacturers the 10bit panels used in iPhone and they them self put the low quality 8 bit panels on there phones if I have to pay $1300 I will definitely go with apple just my 2 cents.
