For those who are new to Fi, steps to become an existing user and
1. Open an account with flexible plan. Use unmentionable code from existing user for $60 credit.
2. Just to be safe, wait for the first bill to be generated before ordering the phone. This will take couple of days. At the very least wait for a day but I suggest waiting for the first bill generation.
3. Once the phone is shipped you need to activate the phone within 30 days. At this point another counter for new user r**f credit is also running down from 30 days. I strongly suggest you wait for that counter to hit zero before you activate the phone. All the counters will be shown on FI app-billing-Track FI saving and instant rebate.
4. Once the phone is activated on FI by downloading the FI app, you should wait for a day for the counter to go down by 1. At this point you can disable/remove the eSIM and use your current provider.5. At no point during 120 days move the FI SIM to another phone (i.e. do not install FI app on any other phone and log into this FI account). Once the counter reaches 0 you can cancel the line or pause it for next deal.
The total cost will be $650 + $25 (plans cost per month including fees) * 5 - $60 = $715

Comes to like 17.5% in taxes when it should be 1/2 that.
New FI customers can have 512gb for $999
Samsung pricing is insane. Apple is final cheaper by a mile. Samung sales are nonstarters

2/27 – Sign‑up + Order
• Created a new Fi account on the Flex plan and used the $60 unmentionable code.
• Activated service on my S23 Ultra and saw the half‑off promo appear.
• Ordered the S26 Ultra the same day.
3/02 – First Bill
• First bill generated and paid.
3/08 – Promo Error
• Got the "A new Fi member activated the device" warning even though the phone hadn't arrived.
• Fi support said it should fix itself after activating the S26U.
3/14 – Activation + Fix
• Removed Fi/eSIM from the S23U and activated the S26U with the same Google account.
• Error remained, so I emailed Fi support and asked for escalation to the promo team.
• Promo team confirmed eligibility and manually corrected it later that day.
• Promo page updated to "Activated the device on Mar 14."
• $60 promo showed 15 days remaining.
3/15 – Promos Counting Down
• S26U promo now shows 119 days left, and the $60 promo dropped to 14 days.
Note: Haven't run Smart Switch yet.
Hope for the best or ready for returns.
Thanks

Update: Now see activated in the Fi app as well. Took some extra time for this to update in the app.
Also, in case it helps anyone: I just activated my phone. I used the referral method, ordered within the 24h window, and activated it today. In my progress it already shows as activated correctly. I'll update tomorrow to see if the counter moves to 119 days like it should, but so far everything looks good.
So google fi promo support emailed back and now promo timer is showing up correctly
Update: Yes, Samsung removed the ability to self-generate/download return label. We need to contact ecommerce support and request the shipping label. They will email the link for the shipping label. Extra headache for sure.
