i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.
Lots to read here, but after doing my best, question still: if this lasts past release date to do it in-store, and if we don't want to use the Spectrum phone plan, then the accurate way to total up this deal is actually whatever price we end up paying after rebates/promotions, plus $60 because we are required to activate with Spectrum, then only after two months (three billings at $20) we can unlock the phone and then disconnect without penalty? For most of us gunning for the Ultra, this makes it pretty close to the $500 Best Buy pricing, then...

My rep waived activation fee last year. And if you find a better phone to trade in, then they would give you more total trade value. Might make it a better deal if you can wait the 60 days to unlock
In my past 2 year experience dealing with Spectrum deals, the phone needs to be activated in Spectrum network when first received. You can then switch out the lines to any other phone during this time. After 60 days from the activation date, while the phone is now active on any spectrum plan, you can then call in to ask them to unlock the phone. They will perform the unlock and then you will get a SMS about the phone is now unlocked.
Its super easy to switch active line between phone via Spectrum online portal.
does that mean we can use the same line to unlock multiple phones?
Eg., buy 4 lines, only pay for 1st month for 3 lines, and keep 1 line.
Then just swap the SIM the 2nd, 3rd, 4th phone, when the 60 days is up?

Yes. I've used a single line to unlock multiple phones in the past. No problem.
I generally use the line to unlock a current phone. Swap sim or e-sim transfer to new phone, and then wait 2 days to call in to unlock the phone currently on the line.
So, people in this thread talking about the need to wait two billing cycles to unlock the phone, are people who want to throw away/not use the free year, and use a different/extra phone plan?
This year T&C clearly says that "One trade-in promotional offer is available per line."
It was not there in the past 2 years so YMMV if you plan to use the same line.

Spectrum internet customers always has some sort of free mobile line but it is not always explicitly stated so not everyone knows it.
Also, Not 100% sure but you can only get 1 active free line per account.

Can anyone confirm that your trade-in Locked phone was already approved this time? Mine is on the way and will let you know once I receive the status from the Assurant. I just received my S26 Ultra this morning and will wait for the status of my trade-in phone before activating it.

Of course I will do multiple trades under 1 line this time assuming it is the same as last year. We will find out soon. Where can you go to find a better deal than this? Of course no where. I wouldn't mess with multiple lines, so let's see.
No wonder you get flagged
- 1 line only with 6 trade-in is a bit suspicious.
I would recommend folks to activate 2-3 lines and eat the extra $20x3 months (per line) costs if intending to do multiple phones and trying to unlock them all.
But the overall unlock process is still the same, just activate one when receive, wait 60 days, switch sim/line to the phone - call in to unlock.
Last year, I opened up 2 lines in store. Then tried to open 1 more line in store a week later and got blocked. Each line only had 1 trade-in. So YMMV. It was my first year doing trades as well.

That T&C is kind of confused too, so forget it. We will find out soon if the rule is the same like last few years OK.
