i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.
Just left spectrum store with a s26 ultra. They only had cobalt violet which was fine by me.
$632.36 for the phone after $709 trade in credit. Paid in full but I later noticed the receipt said "128gb moto g 5g 2025" when it was a 64gb. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me, the store associate had full control. Not bad for the latest model for under $700 after the $32 Walmart straight talk moto 5g 2025
is $32 Walmart straight talk moto 5g 2025 unlocked? can I just buy one now and use it for trade in?
They Tax after promo price in NY ($200 + Tax).
Still worth it, especially if you plan to use it youself. If you are making the trip, I would do at least two.
My final cost is $211 for nyc. No need to prove. I've been doing this deal every year for the past 4 years. This year is the worst deal due to base price went up $899.

New question, if only tax on $200 instead of $900, what is the trade in value of the s26 towards the 26+? Have two separate accounts. Wondering if I get an s26 on one, then transfer the phone number back to old phone on the first account and then trade the s26 for and s26+ on the other account if that would work? Paying tax on full MSRP on both trads would add close to $200 which I doubt would be worth it. Thanks again

Several people have reported that S26s not working for tradein towards other S26s at this time. People have reported issues both in-store and online with the $700 promotion not applying when checking out.
can I use this phone Straight Talk Motorola moto g 2025, 5G, 64GB to trade in? will spectrum accept it?
Based on previous reports in this thread Moto G 2025 from Straight Talk works. Moto G Play 2026 reported as not working (at least in-store) because cannot get into the device without Straight Talk sim but they stated that this was not an issue with previous year models.
For people asking the device does not have to be unlocked (as in carrier unlocked) but I think the most common issue people report is when the employee cannot get into the phone to verify the model/IMEI. There are ways that a locked device can have IMEI/model verified without getting into the actual phone but sounds like people generaly report store employees reject if it gets stuck on a screen that says "insert SIM" when phone is turned on.
I have not tested with mail-in to see if they accept devices that are locked with "insert SIM" screen but they might be more knowledgeable than in-store Spectrum employees in terms of verifying these devices. Not something I think most people would gamble $700 on.

you can trade in an locked phone. I traded in a locked cricket Samsung A14. Some rep will make up their own rules saying phone needs to be unlocked or needs to be on your account. Just go to another store or see or different rep.
It's just the Straight Talk Motorola Moto G 5G 64GB. It's $30. It says it's locked, but the rep didn't even ask if it was. He looked over it and did some weird thing with a mirror and had no problem.
can you share the steps setting up the phone? or we can will bring the new phone out of box to spectrum store? do I need to set up the phone before the trade in?

You do not have to set-up anything. They even recommend resetting the device if you have used it so your data is not on it and so it is no longer linked to any of your accounts and screen lock deactivated, etc. You probably should not walk in with a brand new device that is still sealed in the original box and never turned on. Buy it, make sure it turns on and you can get to the main phone screen, and then take it in.

yes, 100% even if carrier locked. I used this exact phone for 2 in store trades. Ignore the other ignorant fools on here like a few I will mention.
