i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.
I traded in a galaxy A03s in store last week, got a s26 $293 out the door.
I traded in the s26 in store to a iPhone 17e in the same mobile line today, paid $60 out the door.
17e $599 -405 s26 trad in-200 promotion+tax65.50

You had this issue last year? Who did you complain to that was able to get it fixed? Will be interesting to see if people can get it fixed this year especially if it is a wide-spread issue. I am not joking when I say that this is in violation of tax laws since tax codes in most states do specifically address how taxes are handled for these types of promotions/discounts.
Further to this, can anybody who has done in-store trade-in confirm if they paid tax on the difference or the original MSRP of the phone? This would also be a good data point. I am going to initially complain to customer care and if they don't correct it then I will raise a FCC complaint it look for other avenues
Based on the trade-in term, it said one trade-in promotion offer per line, but I just did a 2nd trade-in order online in the same line today successfully and they already charged my credit card a few minutes ago. So I don't think they will demy my 2nd $700 off offer right? I will send in the trade-in phone.

Can anyone confirm that in-store trade-in will charge tax on the different?
At least tell us which state are you referring to, so people can give a concrete answer. If you were in CA and DP was from GA, wouldn't help you at all.
Why go for the regular 17? I think the iphone air is the same price if not cheaper and its value is more similar to the 17 pro. If you were buying for personal use id assume the air is a better buy as well.
only reason I went for iphone 17 was the camera lens. regular price of iphone air was 999 but they had 200 off promotion going on while 17 had 100 off of $829 price. I did think about going for iphone air, since its obviously more expensive but I just got 17.
Damn, I was going to do that, but took longer contemplating whether s26 to iphone 17E was a wise choice, and I went to local store yesterday evening and they trade in value for s26 went down by about $25. Now it's valued at $405. Also, store later mentioned 17e was out of stock.
Was S26 to 17e worth it?
I think it was worth it for me to go from s26 to iphone 17, just my preference.

I have not done in-store trade in (yet) but several people including those in NYC have reported that they have only paid tax on the net cost (i.e. minus the trade-in credit). There may be states with exception but none that I have seen reported yet this year. At least one person has reported that the store had them mail in their device and they did not receive the credit in-store (but that seems to be uncommon).

Did you try to trade S26 for S26?
