i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.

i just did some testing, and $200 discount shows up on s26 plus and 26 ultra , but not on the s26 base.

You might benefit from doing it in-store anyway because people are reporting issues with getting tax refunded this year with on-line trade in. So you could potentially save tax on the trade-in amount since that would be subtracted from your total in-store, if it is worth your time.

I would confirm that they were sending it back to the card on file. The very first time that I requested a refund they asked me if I wanted it to go back to card on file and I said no and gave them a different card, which is why I started switching to my card on my account before requesting the refund.

I did it in store last week and this week. Tax was on the net amount.
I am not sure why they charge tax on the full amount online (before $200 pre-order discount) and also don't refund tax on the promotion amount credit. I paid extra $110 in tax for the S26 Ultra pre-order.

I can confirm that in store is cheaper here in Austin Texas. I initially ordered online and my total was 700ish. When I did it in store, my total was 645. It seems that the tax they charged in store was on the net cost, not the full value of the device. Another reason to do it in sore.

Just came back from local spectrum store. Traded my Spectrum S26 base vs iPhone 17e. Tax on full msrp here in California. Total out of pocket $49. Cool young guy at the store made the experience so much better, smooth and fast. Was done in about 10 minutes.

Earlier today I went to a store near me, but the moment I started with trading s26 , the guy at that store immediately began telling me the iPhone 17e is not available. He asked what color, and I said anything except pink. Then he tells me they got pink🤔. I then asked if they have base s26 to add to my second new line. Then he tells me base s26 is out and they only have plus and ultra. Damn. What a weirdo. If I ever need to go back to that store and he's the one available, I'll ask for a different employee. I felt like he was intentionally trying to make things difficult for me. Maybe he previously worked for Metro dealers and learned all the negative experiences. I thanked him and left .

The second store employee was awesome.
