i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.

I just got 2 S26 with 2 $20 new lines for $231 for each S26. I traded in Motorola g 5g 2025 for each S26. In-store traded in great with no bs questions. It took them at least 30 minutes to process and they have to test the trade-in phone's camera with their special camera clipboard tool and I am kind of surprised too. This was the 1st time to see them doing camera test.

they did it during the s25 days too... the trade in assurant companies requires it

now do what I did, port those $20 lines to metropcs, and get the the 16e for $99+1month plans. trade in the 16e directly to apple for $310 each in GC. =)

did it 4 times.

When can I start to port out? I saw each new line in my account said "Plan switch pending". Next month bill said each line costs $4.54 for period 3/27-3/31 and $20 for period 4/1-4/30. So total is $49.

Yes Samsung hasn't pulled the SIM slot yet but I'm sure they will follow Apple and Google and get rid of them soon

Tried to read through as many of the pages of this thread as possible and seeing some conflicting info on the more recent pages so wanted to see if someone could help me confirm whether or not the below approach would work (would love if someone has a recently acquired Spectrum S26 they could test with).

Current setup: 1 Unlimited Plus line w/BYOD device owned outright.

Desired Approach: (1) TODAY - trade in junk phone for $700 credit on S26 so $199 + taxes & fees (less whatever minor trade in credit I receive). (2) TOMORROW - trade in S26 acquired today for iPhone Air for $190 + taxes & fees ($799 - $409 S26 trade value + $200 Trade Bonus).

Goal is to get the iPhone Air for $389 + taxes & 2 activation fees (basically using the S26 deal to get an extra $209 of trade value on the device) but timing matters because the doubled trade bonus ($200 total) for the iPhone Air is scheduled to expire tomorrow, and don't know if going back to back will nullify anything.

TLDR: Can I get an S26 on the trade-in promo today, and turn around and use that device for a trade on the same account tomorrow & still be eligible for the $200 bonus trade value on the iPhone Air? Not looking to double-dip on the Samsung $700 bonus as it looks like that's closed
Yes this should work. but note that the promotion on the Spectrum Mobile website for the iPhone Air shows good through March 28 (today). Not sure if it is really ending today or not as the Spectrum mobile website is not always reliable. I suppose worst case if you did the S26 yesterday and store gives you any issues you should be able to do the deal online today. You will have to go through the mail-in process and wont get tax back on the trade-in amount but still could work for you if you want the iPhone Air. Just make sure all the trade-in amounts are correct with the promotion reflecting on the Assurant website before sending in to Assurant if you end up having to go the online route.

I personally do not think most stores would have an issue with the trade-in because I do not see how they could argue with you if you say you want a different phone. The main reason people got denied in the past was trying to trade-in same device for exact same device, or their account got automatically flagged after doing too many trade-ins in-store and so then could only do online.

I traded my s25+ in store for a S26 Ultra, 256gb, few days back; got a total value of $950; tax on msrp. Nice phone, but after playing with it for few days, I feel it was not worth the extra $450 on top of the S25+. I have not even touched the stylus, nor used the camera zoom. Indoor low light photos were much worse than on iphone 17e and 17. Somehow photos on iphone look much more pleasing and more detailed (specially for my indoor low light shots) than on S25+, s26 Ultra and on Pixel 9 Pro XL. Could it be the screen or simply better camera processing?

Added a new $30 new line with $20 activation fees. Called and chatted with several agents to waive activation fees, including retention, but no go. I guess I'll have to spend $90 for 3 months service before it can be unlocked. Then switch to much cheaper and better prepaid plans.

Port the free lines out to grab the $99 16e iphones and trade them into apple for $310 GC each. This will closed the $20 lines and not have to mess with any Spectrum agents.

Then use the one free spectrum line to unlock each phone after the 60 days, one by one after moving the free line to the new IMEI/s26 phone. The 60 days start when you first activated the s26 on spectrum network. I've done this every year for past 3 years.

You just have to "explain" to the reps, who are typically clueless when trying to unlock

Does this actually work? I just went in store today and was told I could only put the phone on a payment plan.
I guess since my primary reason for going in store was to avoid the tax and I'm not getting that benefit anyway I might as well just buy online and ship the trade, hope that doesn't have any issues, hasn't been a problem in the past.

When it is time to request unlock for the phone on the ported out line, did you put it online in your account in your existing free line?

Last year one time the in-store agent put my S25 into the payment plan and I didn't know that until I got into my account online. I then called the customer service and they resolved the issue in a few minutes.

I wonder if this will work to pull forward the extra $400 off S26+/Ultra for new subscribers. Start with payment plan, pay off device, then ask them to put entire $705 + 400 credit on account.
