I found a page saying this model was responsible for 3 house fires in texas. It doesnt have a safety switch if it tips over and the legs are made of plastic. https://www.tn.gov/commerce/news/...eater.html

VIP Outlet has terrible quality control! I couldn't tell you how many chances I've given them and most items arrive mission stuff, broken, used, or in some cases a completely random item lol. There return process is alright, but they tried forcing me to pay for an item that was heavy and that was a battle.

Does any heat come from the "wood" or is it just the radiator at the bottom that emits heat?

The slot at the bottom is the infrared emitter. Infrared heats differently than conventional space heaters; it projects heat to objects (and people) in the room rather than just heating the air around it. If you've ever been near a bonfire or other large fire that you can feel from a distance, it's a similar effect. Radiant heat rather than ambient heat.

Great information for potential buyers; thanks for sharing. VIP sells this same model on wlamart.com and states that it has a tip-over switch in the description (Maybe they improved the design at some point). I don't have one of these so I can't say one way or the other if these have been improved to include a tip-over switch. I personally would not run one in my home without that important safety feature. Kinda shocking that Walmart would have this deficiency on a house brand product.

Be careful buying from this seller. It is probably USED. I bought the Buddy Heater last time it was on sale new and damaged box and it was used. No seller communication. Some people commented they received used broken used buddy heaters.

It's very difficult, if not impossible, to make fake flames look classy and expensive at this price. On the other hand, it's basic radiant heat for a dorm room, workshop, camper, etc. with some mood lighting thrown in. Probably not a good fit for those with a mansion, but is right at home in a camp or singlewide. Let's face it; most middle income or above families don't use space heaters in their homes.

VIPOutlet? Never again! I tried to order four different things the last time they were on Slickdeals and asked to cancel one and they refused to cancel and will not give me back my money. I'm still waiting for eBay to intervene.

And the other four items that I didn't want canceled they canceled just like they did with everyone else.

Avoid them like the plague.

The stove one has a lot of bad reviews on walmart.com. I was going to buy one but it seems to be junk. It's $70 on walmart.com though. I had to pass.
