We have this. Solid, super light. Extremely fast and quiet too. No touchscreen. HP said on earnings call that memory costs used to be 15%-18% of their bill of materials and now its 35%

Last year, HP customer service offered $800 for me to buy this laptop. I had no idea about the spec and $800 was outrageous at that time. I thought the customer agent was making sale quota. I ignored it.
Now, with the rise of component prices, $830 is great price now. I still have a 10% discount code from HP. (The old requirement was 10% off $599 purchase. Now, it is 10% off at least $699 purchase). And some Chase credit cards offer $50 cash back on $800 HP purchase. So, the final price after tax would be less than $800.

Don't forget to apply $20 off $65 coupon by signing up HP email.
And hopefully, the shipping process of HP laptop would be better now. I did order a HP Omnibook back in December. It was not a customized laptop. Still, HP needed to customize build it regardless and it was built in Vietnam. I had no idea it went through so much trouble. The laptop was on hold in US customs pending paperwork for customs. HP said they were missing some shipping documents. As a customer, how could i know the details of the custom paperwork. HP told me not to worry because eventually the customs would release the laptop. It was just a matter of time. Finally, the laptop arrived. Customs hold it for a few days.

Because of the rise of RAM, I have to remove the DDR4 from old laptops and reconfigure DDR4 RAM on other laptops. That is why I am only interested in buying laptop with expandable DDR4 RAM slot. Otherwise, I would consider this laptop

Then you have to get older laptops. AMD had switched to DDR5 since Ryzen 6000 series and for Intel, it will be 12th and 13th Gen which support both DDR4 and DDR5. 14th Gen technically supports DDR4 but all laptops come with DDR5 only.

How much battery life do you get on a full charge with mostly light tasks, like web browsing, watching some videos and doing some light office work? 43 Wh seems rather small?
