In the old days, I used to do this, then use the rewards to pick up like 9 cases of water, which was competitively priced at about $4 a case.
I just checked online, a case of 24 PureLife is $18?? Ayfkm

Staples price matches (in-store only). This is the way to keep them competitive for many things.

He knows. That OP also incorrectly limited it to Energizer. In other words, a SLICK MOVE. Who says two wrongs don't make two rights? Not SD. EEK!

then who is going to create one for every brand?

Also, be aware Staples rounds the rewarded points down to the nearest full dollar's worth. So for example, if you pay $19.99 + tax, you will only get back $19 worth of points.

The best case is to use price match, which reduces your out-of-pocket amount, the tax, and naturally, the rewards, so less you have to spend there later.

That is correct, so if you can do the math in your head and get a combo that adds up to $40-$40.50 you'll get the full $40 in rewards.

Same when redeeming them, often have to spend 99c + tax oop if you're buying an item priced $9.99

I don't use leaky alkaline batteries anymore. Are rechargeable batteries also eligible for the rewards? It seems that there's no way to see the estimated amount of rewards I'd earn during checkout.

Last few times I have done this deal the rechargeable batteries earned the rewards too, so most likely.
