This is a crazy good deal. Nothing is touching this.

No SSD, but 24GB (soldered), USB4 AND Oculink is phenominal.

I can only speak for myself i suppose, but the number of folks concerned about these things (in sd comments, reddit, etc) vs the number of folks actually affected are pretty lopsided. Most of the concerns are about malware being preloaded on hdds running windows. Some have mentioned bios level stuff, but I dont know if those are confirmed.
Also, if you're familiar with installing your own OS and are able to do simple network VLANing you should be able to prevent any attacks (assuming there is actual malware on the machine). All im saying is taht there is a lot of FUD out there with regard to the concerns you mentioned. If your risk tolerance is low, i guess you can skip these kinds of deals. Its all about your own comfort level.

This AOOSTAR mini PC stands out as a compact Ryzen 7 Pro 6850H box with 24GB soldered LPDDR5, USB4, OCuLink, dual 2.5GbE, and Wi Fi 6, making it especially appealing for homelab, Proxmox, and light gaming setups. The 680M iGPU and fast memory are described as strong for an integrated graphics system, and HDMI 2.1 is expected to support high refresh 4K output. The main tradeoffs are the soldered RAM and no included SSD or operating system. Deal pricing and coupon behavior were unstable, with reports of codes expiring, checkout errors, and the price jumping into the $400s.

  • The system offers USB4 plus an OCuLink connection, which can support setups like Frigate with OCuLink.

    ghostfreckleMichaelS9856

  • The mini PC includes soldered 24GB LPDDR5 RAM, which supports fast 6400 MT/s performance for demanding workloads.

    rseiler

  • The networking hardware includes Intel I226-V Ethernet and Intel Wi‑Fi 6 AX200 160MHz for cluster and homelab use.

    rseiler

  • The HDMI output reportedly supports higher refresh rates in 4K when using the right cable.

    ben_mn

  • Coupon and checkout pricing can change unexpectedly, including coupon errors and first-come-first-served discounts running out.

    flydeepzhangsquall

  • The soldered RAM can be a deal-breaker if expectations were set for upgradeable memory.

    ducksoup18

  • Sales tax and invoice totals can be confusing, with reported effective tax rates that differ from the expected NY rate.

    phxstudio

  • Hardware reliability can be an issue, since a non-working system fan reportedly caused overheating and HDD problems.

In for 1. Current price of RAM alone makes this a good deal. Fact that its soldered not a big deal since should be enough. Hoping HDMI 2.1 so I can get 120hz in 4k. Hard to find on the lower cost mini PC's like this.

Doesn't even sound like they know what they're talking about and you spent the time doing all that for them- probably not to buy it... LOL

Is it normal for it to show $42.73 in sales tax?

I ended up buying 3 for a cluster. Right now i have a frankesteinian setup with all sorts of random computers. Everythings working pretty good, but i think i can use these little guys to simplify my setup. Proxmox, talos, k8s. The only thing im a bit worried about is igpu transcoding for plex/jellyfin. My uses there arent high, but i might just leave one of my old i7's running for just plex.
Dayummmm! You smart, ain't you?

Bought it. Didnt realize it was soldered ram. Bummer. Free returns i guess but still solid deal for oculink, 24gb ddr5, dual 2.5gb nics, etc
According to this review, the ram doesn't appear to be soldered. https://youtu.be/_tgTuMbpoXw?si=bGn31HUvTHadvDpp

Edit: my bad. The review was for a different model.

Same here in NY, but with a calculated rate around 14.45%.

I decided to chat with them to see what's going on since they are not listing taxes in detail.

I got $284.82 - $35 (Discount) + $0 shipping + $36.11 (taxes) = $285.93
NY tax rate is 8.875% not 14.45%

When asked for a break down I was sent an invoice which showed much different information including costs in CNY.

Price: 2775.50 (CNY) = $404.72
Sales Tax Rate: 8.875%
Sales Tax Amount: 246.33 (CNY) = 35.92
Total Inclusive of Sales Tax: 3021.83 (CNY) = 440.63
Not quite sure how they are coming up with this creative math...

Is the deal still available? Would be interested if there was a new working code without the error "For security reasons your request can't currently be processed"
