I got it last year and it changed quality of my life! Only milk and whole bean coffee needed, I think I actually saved around $400 last year alone from not buying K pods alone and I stopped buying coffee creamer too thats prob another couple hundred.
I beat the brakes off my 3200 for over 5 years. Just upgraded to a 5500 off a good open box deal. No hesitation, this is a good price for the 4400. The color goes will with most stainless appliance.

Yeah, that seems rather odd, would not take that risk with $600 coffee machine, people say they save over keurig pods, but that's $600 upfront investment, getting rid of your old keurig machine, and honestly keurig is just normal light coffee, not espresso, just get a $50 drip coffee machine if you want to a huge upgrade over keurig, and a nespresso machine or just a basic espresso machine. These combo "drink makers" have too many moving parts and try to please everyone.
I've been in market but I am thinking there isn't one-for-all solution to this.
I have the 4300 and here's my take after close to 3500 drinks made with it: It makes espresso close to Starbucks but nowhere near as delicious as a good coffee shop. It's better than pods and it's very convenient. The coffee setting is comparable to drip, but you don't buy something like this for basic coffee. The milk foam is a weak point, it isn't nearly as good as something with a good steam wand but again, this is all about convenience. Use whole milk and it's pretty good and easy to clean. It's sensitive to bean quality (if you use grocery store beans, you're probably not going to love it, and it prefers lighter roasts). It has a break in period. The first 30 or 40 shots won't be nearly as good as the several thousand to follow. Maintenance is easy, though you have to rinse some components once a week. Parts are easy to come by and it shares a brew group with multiple models. I replace the filter every 9 months or so, and use it for a minimum of 4 drinks a day.
I paid 1k for the 5400 model 3 1/2 years ago. It gets heavy use and my wife likes the dark beans which isn't suggest for such machines but its still going fine. Thing just keeps going.. Quality of the drinks is pretty good.
it's a good product not a great one. if you've never had a superautomatic and you want to drink mostly milk drinks, this will be just fine. it makes weak espresso (really small pucks for the amount of water it uses) but the milk foaming is pretty good.
if you're an espresso snob or you just want to get the best bang for your buck i'd recommend checking out the delonghi magnifica. you can usually find similar milk foaming models for cheaper than the philips and it uses bigger pucks than the philips. also the brew group doesn't need the weekly cleaning the philips needs.

I have lower end version of this and I cannot live without it. It's been one of my best investments. I've been saving a ton of money on store bought coffee because this makes great capuccinos and lattes. I've had it for a year and a half, and whenever it breaks down, I'll definitely be buying another.
