With a MicroCenter nearby, is this a better deal?

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Graphics Card
  • 2TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD
  • 2.5GbE LAN, 2x2 WiFi 7 (802.11be), Bluetooth 5.4

Shouldn't you get the 3D version for gaming? Ryzen 7 9800X3D is better. And you guys need to research parts used before hopping on this 🤦

It's only 5% or less difference in performance.

If you have a Micro Center, this is the real deal to get. Almost as fast for $500 (+tax) less.

The processors for gaming are pretty close but the Ram on the MSI is better. I think the MSI has some better parts vs the Alienware proprietary stuff.

IMO for the $100 you go with the MSI

At 4k you won't see the difference in a 9800x3d. All those review benchmarks are done aft 1080 so the cpu has to flex, but at 4k you'll be gpu limited so it eliminates most of the x3d gains
Cool. First time I've ever heard this mentioned. Thanks

And any insight on the Mobo this uses? I've seen some mention it's where MSI cheaps out. Something to do with just 2 ram slots

I used Pcpartpicker and selected cheapest msi parts for a comparison build and it came to $2750 without OS and keyboard and mouse.

Sadly, with the current prices this is a good deal. Best time to buy a PC was a year ago, second best is now.

Uh, I don't think that is correct. Literally someone just posted an article about 3 posts before yours and all the tests were done in 4k and the difference is 10%-30%, average 17%. You will definitely notice it in gaming.

This was $500 off last Black Friday/Christmas 2025 for $2k, and with the current ram shortage pricing, it's still a great deal! Machine screams, will play anything, and is quiet. Def buy. Also, if you bought within past 30-days, don't forget Costco's price match adjustment option.
This was never $2,000. It was $2,199.

The one at MC is a 5070ti with 240mm cooler. Still a deal but different level.
