The Men's New Balance Fresh Foam X 860 v14 Shoe is a go-to shoe for supportive, cushioned runs. Prices are just dropping and this model is still over $100 most places

An issue with these, regardless of the width, is that ok the putter part of the shoe, right inside where the front of the "N" is, there is a stiff piece of plastic that will cause pain and pressure on the outer part of your foot
I tried many sizes and widths and they all had the same issue. No idea what they were thinking with that

Interesting... these are my favorite for longer runs (5+ miles) and I've never had issues. I have the women's model, so maybe they're different. That said - it's always better to physically try on running shoes if you're gonna run in them

It's for stability for folks who pronate. Try 680 if you don't need support shoes and if 1080 is over your budget.

100% my rant. These days it is so hard to find a good running shoes below $60. Almost everything starts from $80.

I generally wear other stability shoes like the asics gel kayano, the new balance Vongo v6, brooks adrenaline... None have this issue and all are stability shoes
I believe it's a design choice or structural element specific to the 860
