Considering you're buying protein, I don't think you're focused on the right numbers. I'm less concerned about the ratio of powder, than how much the protein costs. (Unless there's some crazy unhealthy thing in the rest of the powder that's a detriment, like ridiculously high sugar content, or lead or arsenic or something)
This product has 26g of protein per serving, and 50 servings for the container, so you're buying 1300g of protein in total.@ $27.45 (for the 5% SS discount.... which can actually go up to 15% if you have enough items in your S&S delivery)
I'll use the lower 5% discount here. So it's either:
$0.0211 per g of protein or
47.35g of protein per $1
Now do that math for a similar Optimum deal that you're alluding to (say for example, 24g of protein per serving, for 73 servings in a 5lb container for $52)
$0.0296 per g of protein or
33.69g of protein per $1
That's a solid 27% savings on an already discounted Optimum slickdeal.
Costco is 80 servings at 24g protein/serving and on goes on sale for $48.99.
$48.99/(80*24) = 0.0255
This deal:
$27.45/(50*26= 0.0211
0.0211/0.0255 = 0.827
Which is a 17% savings.
I didn't use the lower of the two Amazon discounted prices, because not everybody gets that deal.
My advice is just to pay more and get Ascent (or Levels when it's on sale) from Costco. Those taste much better, have less sodium and less "filler". You need a bigger scoop of this stuff for the same amount of protein. Even for $27, I'd still just pay more for the stuff Costco has.
