Far from worth it. We dropped the extra $50 to get it bundled at launch and my kids enjoyed Mariokart 8 and play it a lot but gave up on this one after a couple hours. They still go back to Mariokart 8.
The open world element is such a bust, I was hoping it would be like Lego 2k drive where you drive around and find missions/tasks and it's own story but there's nothing to do outside of the occasional challenge to get through some rings in time. I tried a couple weeks ago hoping after 9 months they added more to it but I am still disappointed.

Good game. I knew complaints about it being $80 were overblown. It wouldn't take long before someone could get it for cheaper. So here ya go.

We enjoy the knockout races and the team stuff but often go back to 8 for a more traditional experience

Decent for those planning on buying a S2 soon. Would rather have a cart than the digital version. But I also think it's only a good, not great game and sure it will be a $40 BF special come Nov.

To be fair, this was the top launch game and all new, not a port. It was well worth $50 at launch. $80 was insane. At this point though, yeah, it's lost some shine.

I'm hoping they add to the open world aspect. As mentioned that's really where it could shine as something unique over it's predecessors. I can't put my finger on why it's not as exciting. I think just the wider roads make it feel slower, even with both at 150cc. I've been focused on some other gaming experiences but I can give it another deep dive this summer and maybe I will find more joy in it.

I feel for games like this or smash bros where I just wanna do a quick round here and there, it's nice having it digital so I don't have to swap cartridges. It's a bummer that means we can't sell it, but as opposed to campaigns and adventures like Mario Odyssey or Zelda where when I'm done I know I'll never touch it again so I don't need to keep it, something like this I won't need to sell.

This game is worth the 60 considering you will be able to sell it used on eBay for 55 minus fees in 2 years. Mario kart games never go down in price and mk8 which is what a 13 year old game is still never lower then 40 for the switch.
This game isn't bad, but it doesn't wow either.
There are aspects of mk8 that are better and there are aspects of this that beat mk8.
The open world like others have mentioned is so so
At the end of the day if your buying a switch 2 you prob buying Mario kart and this is the best price you will get.

Good idea, enjoyed Lego 2k Drive for this aspect as well, it's a fun and zany open world. Apply this formula with the Mario universe to MK and Nintendo would have something really cool for fans.

Yup, could have been something good, instead the open world was just so boring. Even before I tried it that was the reports I hear, that it was just driving around in a lot of emptiness, but I thought there would be something or at least adding it soon.
If they do come out with it then it's just gonna be a paid DLC.
