This is the typical price. That said it is great as long as you take in account it Will only work with steel pots and pans, not coated ones. Needs to be magnetic cookware.

I got this because of the 8" coil. Even with that you can only cook one steak at a time on cast iron or make one french toast at a time on stainless.

It does feel cheap, stainless colored plastic, but it does the job.

If I had $1,300 to spare I would have picked up the Breville control freak.

It is not an 8" coil. It is probably less than 5". Don't expect a good result in any pan larger than 6". The coil might be 3/8" larger than my Duxtop, but I always pick the Duxtop and leave this one in the cabinet. I would be happy to find an 8" induction burner, but this is not it.

No 8" coil sells for $100. The Control Freak is 8.3" and $1500.

More precisely the metal doesn't need to be magnetic, they need to be ferromagnetic metals meaning they stick to magnets. I use mine with cast iron which is awesome. They also work well with with some but not all stainless steels, high carbon stainless steel, and even enamel coated cast iron.

So the 8" coil claim is a lie?
