I mean it's $10 - you'll be limited to about 400w charging at 12v - but its 14 times that for a nice victron 30A.

More like 400w @ 12v.
But agreed; for $10 this is a nice to have backup or for a small shed project or something. Maybe one of the famous SD "bought on impulse; didn't need" deals
