If I was rich I'd buy it. Looks like an awesome rain coat that would keep you warm. I have been rocking a much less expensive 32 degrees raincoat from costco I got a few years back. The patagonia looks a lot nicer though haha.
Great coat, just bought one a few weeks ago. A lot of people say the jacket is very "noisy" but is one of the best no maintenance rain jackets you can get.
Patagonia warranty also makes this stand out from other options.

My "2.5"L TNF/Colombia jackets have typically started peeling on the inside after 3-5 years of extremely light use, the 10-15 days a year I wear them. I never wear them enough to experience any wetting out, it's always the inside layer that starts peeling/flaking
How much longer will/would a true 3L last?

I have the same problem and would like to know this too.

From what I can tell, you need to wash the 2.5L ones as skin oils degrade that inner spray-on coating "layer" within like 3 years. A true 3L jacket like this Patagonia one is expected to last much much longer, e.g. 15+ years since it's an actual fabric layer instead of a coating. Warranty makes it effectively last forever as well.
You should still wash the 3L jackets to clean any oils from the membrane - they will cause "wetting out" to happen faster. But remember wetting out is mainly an issue because it decreases breathability. You should stay protected from rain even if the jacket is completely wetted out - you may be wet due to sweat though.

I've had this jacket for 6 years and it shows no wear at all. My Carhartt and Columbia jackets I've bought since then have both failed in probably half that time. I'm having to work in the rain occasionally this year and this jacket has been amazing.

That's the beauty of Patagonia.
They're better built jackets and thus should last you much longer (though you pay more for it at the outset).
But the CRITICAL ADVANTAGE is their Lifetime Warranty which DOES work. You can go into any Patagonia store and hand them you're peeled up jacket. They will give you store credit for that jacket. Peeling is difficult to repair so they just hand you the Credit. But IF it is repairable (any garment) they'll repair it literally good as new......and you'll get it back FREE in the mail a month later.....And I'm talking about several times personal experience!
Patagonia is 2nd to none in this regard and a good way to save from adding to the landfill. I have a 20 year old "as new" Patagonia jacket that's currently being repaired. They can bury me in that jacket. LOL.

Thank you for your reply. I've used TNF warranty for peeled jackets, but they do make you bring into store with a receipt, or mail it in (can't remember if mail in requires a receipt also). Patagonia process sounds simpler if you have a store within easy travel distance. No receipt needed?
Just received mine. Shipped fast, 3 days. Very nice looking and a good earthy color combination. Very well made. Great zippers. Solid jacket. Light weight. Fits me well with great adjustability. Yes, it's slightly crinklier and a bit stiffer than a softer and more supple fabric, but this seems to lend to its tough and durable nature. Finally replacing my 38 year old Gore-tex Moonstone shell. Now a bit more prepared for the next round of hurricanes.
