Shooter: Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg), a former Marine Corps sniper who leaves the military after a mission goes bad. After he is reluctantly pressed back into service, Swagger is double-crossed again. With two bullets in him and the subject of a nationwide manhunt, Swagger begins his revenge, which will take down the most powerful people in the country. Pain & Gain: When an ambitious group of personal trainers go after the American Dream, they get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong. Now, living large will take everything they've got in this unbelievable and outrageous true story. The Fighter: Academy Award Nominees Mark Wahlberg (The Departed), Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) and Amy Adams (Doubt) star in this "remarkable" film. Based on a true story, two brothers, against all the odds, come together to train for a historic title bout that has the power to reunite their fractured family and give their hard-luck town what it's been waiting for: pride. Micky Ward (Wahlberg) is a struggling boxer long overshadowed by his older brother and trainer, Dicky (Bale), a local legend battling his own demons. Their explosive relationship threatens to take them both down but the bond of blood may be their only chance for redemption. Joe Morgenstern, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL The Italian Job: The plan was flawless. The execution was perfect. Charlie Croker pulled off the crime of a lifetime. The one thing that he didn't plan on was being double-crossed. Now he wants more than the job's payoff he wants payback. Mark Wahlberg is electrifying as Croker in this 'fast and furious action-adventure.' Along with a drop-dead gorgeous safecracker (Charlize Theron), Croker and his team take off to re-steal the loot and end up in a pulse-pounding, pedal-to-the-metal chase that careens up, down, above and below the streets of Los Angeles. With an ensemble all-star cast that also includes Edward Norton, Seth Green, Jason Statham, Mos Def, Franky G and Donald Sutherland, The Italian Job is 'Hot!' The Gambler: Academy Award-nominee Mark Wahlberg delivers a "career-defining performance" as Jim Bennett, an English professor leading a secret double life as a high-stakes gambler. When Jim borrows money from dangerous gangsters, he places the lives of those he loves in mortal danger. With time running out, he must enter the criminal underworld and risk everything to keep from losing it all. John Goodman, Brie Larson and Academy Award-winner Jessica Lange star in the thrilling film.

with 5 movies compressed onto one disk, it's not much of a step up...and forget about quality audio, it's stripped down to stereo.

DVD?
Only if it's delivered by something as equally ancient like a stage coach.

Does it really cost them that much more to make bluray? I just don't understand why we are still making DVDs when other physical disks exist and give better quality.
I know I'll get that person "bEcAuSe sOmE pEoPLe oNLy HaVe a DvD PLayEr" yep and some old people only have a vhs player but they stopped making those for the same reason.

The movies are not on one disc. Each movie is on its own disc. There are five discs in this set, which are all identical to the original DVD releases of each film -- same picture and sound quality (i.e. they're NOT stripped down stereo; they're all Dolby Digital 5.1). Where do you people get your information? Sure, DVD isn't Blu-ray or 4K UHD, but there's nothing wrong with DVDs on smaller TVs. I'd rather watch a DVD than any streaming service.

Good. That's a different situation altogether. I have a lot of these sets with the movies all compressed on a dual layer disc and they suck. This appeared to be one of them by the pic.

I don't think any of the major studios do that with films that were well-received at the box office. At least not that I've ever encountered. This release is from Paramount. Now smaller distribution companies putting out collections of largely forgotten films they've licensed, yeah, I've definitely seen it done, and you're right, it's horrible.

Facts I can't believe millennials are collecting these plus record so there both hot again.I remember they were only making blu-rays and 4k disc for new releases now there masking new dcd it's crazy. I love having physical disc but the ly at lease have to be 4k I can't go back to 480.Ii agree but thus is why there Back DVDs, records, and books are experiencing a resurgence driven by
a desire for permanent ownership, "streaming fatigue" from rising costs, and a, yearning for nostalgia and tangible, screen-free experiences. This shift is fueled by younger generations treating physical media as "vintage," while others seek to avoid content being removed from digital libraries.
YouTube +5
Key drivers for the return of physical media include:
  • True Ownership & Permanence: Physical media provides a permanent copy, avoiding the risk of content being removed from streaming services.
  • Anti-Subscription/Digital Fatigue: High costs and, complex, fragmented, and sometimes, expensive streaming services are causing consumers to return to, or seek out, alternative, often, more, affordable, ways of, enjoying, content, in, a, more, tangible, and, curated, format, and, to avoid, the, fatigue, of, constantly, having, to, choose, what, to, watch.
  • Nostalgia and Experience: The ritual of playing a record, browsing a bookstore, or watching a DVD is seen as a more romantic, intentional, and, slower, experience compared to, digital, browsing.
  • Tangible and Collectible Value: Physical formats, such as vinyl records and book, editions, offer, tangible, items, with, unique, artwork, and, bonus, features, that, are, not, available, on, streaming, services.
  • Digital Disconnection: Many users are trying to reduce screen time and escape the constant, overwhelming, nature, of, internet, and, social, media.
  • Generational Appeal: Younger generations, particularly Gen Z, view, vintage, media, like, DVDs, and, records, as, cool, and, a, form, of, cultural, rebellion, against, a, purely, digital, world.

Records at least provide great audio quality. DVD is useless.

I can tell you don't know about technology it's even impossible to squeeze that many films on any single Disc format.

It absolutely is, look it up. It's called compression, they drop redundant bits and remove the special audio. Seriously, look it up. I did.

I have dozens of multi-film discs from major studios. Secrets and Lies Thriller collection has 10 movies on 1 disk.

Warner Bros Survival collection has Twister, pOseidon, Perfect Storm, and Outbreak all on one disc.

I could go on, I have over 6,000 DVD's in my collection.
