When I mentioned this to the store I bought from, he said the worker likely wanted to pocket the difference, and 'forget' a receipt, which is why he wanted cash.

The store employee said the gift cards were flagged as fraud and told me to call Apple Support. Note that this other user Tealrecess or whatever is a new acct and has only been harping on about how their gcs aren't working. Yet provides no further details on apple's response or efforts to solve the issue with apple. I'm calling BS personally (and I'm not the only one) but just my opinion, of course.
There's a reason certain ports and other loopholes get patched up; one has to presume the company corporates get info from these threads and feed them back to the engineers behind the deal structures.
