I can't recommend this as a master tech, there are much better methods. I have what looks to be the same kit in a different brand that just collects dust.

Autozone will rent this out to you for free. Though this will save you the trip. Personally I just use a block of wood and a clamp.

What are the better methods?
I used to be C clamp guy, then I encountered pistons that had to be rotated to compress them.

Ratcheting type or duckbill type that you can put a ratchet on.

I just noticed your edit... those sound like electronic parking brakes? an electronic tool to put them in service mode if theres no built in service mode function. you can also jumper the motors to retract them in a pinch with 12v... but it takes a little more skill.

I know for a fact this kit doesn't have the right inserts for a lot of ford ebrakes, especially trucks

Different style brake calipers need this. You can't use a c-clamp with what these are meant for. It won't work. They need to be turned to be retracted, not just pushed back.

I've also always just used a big c-clamp, but this does appear to work for the pistons that need to be turned as they're retracted, so that could be helpful. For less than $15 might be worth trying out.

Some newer rear brakes require this set , you cannot use a c clamp on some newer vehicles without messing them up. Ask me how I know Frown

I use this PITTSBURGH Disc Brake Pad Piston Compressor for my 05 honda, i'm sure newer cars require this style.

Wish I could just use a c clamp as everyone claims but that only works for the front brake pads lol. Rear we have to use this friggin tool lol

You don't have to, there's other options, like enabling brake service/maintenance mode, and definitely don't let the caliper dangle as he did in that video

Yea definitely don't let it dangle. I thought he hung it on the bracket or something.

Not sure what brake service/maintenance mode is but on my Euro car I'm unaware of such mode. Cool if you don't need this tool though.

Just did my brakes (pads and rotors) on a Hyundai SUV (front and rear) and used a c-clamp. For the rear, I put it in service mode using an OBD2 reader, then with a combo of rotation and c-clamp force, I was able to retract the e-brake motor. You don't need this... purely from the standpoint of having an extra tool box (although it is pretty cheap).
