Depending on the dust/cat hair buildup my tower fans normally develop, that is a very important note I absolutely appreciate.

So I shouldn't assemble it so I can return it?

I noticed that a couple reviews mentioned that you can't switch between cooling & heating with the remote control.

The fan blades apparently cannot be taken apart once assembled but I was able to disconnect and make a return. I didn't break any parts, but I guess I was lucky.

I can't remember a day when I needed cooling and heating on the same day, let alone with such urgency that I couldn't walk over and flip the switch.

No? Sauna cold plunge is not your thing? Shark is missing out a major market segment! ;-) They already done 90% of the job putting cooling and heating into the same unit.

Agreed. I have the gen 1(non heat version) its huge and sounds like a jet turbine. Sleep mode is tolerable, but it automatically shuts off after 8 hours.

I got mine refurbished last year through a woot for about $99. I like it, but buyer beware on the noise.

You must have gotten a defective one. I have the same one and it's not loud at all and I have it on the highest setting while sleeping.
