Wow haven't seen this over 20 years. Should have been evolved to NVME and 2.5" SSD SATA drive. Who still use 3.5" motorized drive?

I heavily rely on WD Reds for my archive/ data backup... obviously I used nvme and whatnot for OS and gaming storage, but for proper archival of my photography and important pictures and files, I back them up ONLY on WD Reds.... which is why Im in this thread, seeing if this is better than my current method of backing my stuff up every couple months to deep cold storage....

I mean, would you like to buy me 12tb of nvme drives, all redundant and mirrored with some shipped off to off-site locations? That will add up in price pretty quick......

Based on Amazon reviews I'd stay away personally.
Not to many recent reviews either.

Plenty of use for regular HDDs for servers and archive storage. Nobody is buying 10+ Tb SSDs for NAS. The only reason why people might not use them anymore is that they are too freaking expensive now.

I think the most important reason people don't use SSD (flash drives) for cold storage is not because of the price, but because the data gets corrupt over time for having no electricity charge on the SSD. And regular HDD don't have that problem to deal with, which makes them the preferred way for data storage over long period of time.

100% Add me to the list of people, I just bought 5 mech HD's from seagate on black friday for 90+TB of data storage and cold storage. I could never afford 90TB of Nvme SSDs that would cost me a mortgage on my house.

This should be/was the normal price, but I actually needed one tomorrow so this came in clutch.
Edit: I still see many comparable docks, brand name, at or around this price. Am I missing something? Why is this normally $40?Edit: Is it the ability to clone offline? Thats actually pretty cool.

This is consumer Hardware all the way, so I'd be very surprised if it works with SAS drives
