Great story! I watched this the night it aired with my little brother Mark, who has since passed. He was 12 or 13 and I was maybe 14. We had the back bedroom and a little 12 or 13 inch black and white TV with an antenna that had probably been beat up and half broken. Half the time we had to rig a clothes hanger to get decent reception.
For a couple of kids our age, it was an amazing experience. Anything with action and danger would light up our imaginations. I even remember loving the opening theme song, with the girls and the flamingos. Made you want to live in Florida!
One memory that really stands out is his boat and his pet alligator, Elvis. I thought that was the coolest thing ever. I also remember a scene where a sniper was targeting someone on his boat, and from a far off tower or lighthouse you could see the muzzle flash. Great show.
But the real reason I love Miami Vice is simpler than that. It was one of those things my little brother Mark and I got to experience together. Just two kids sitting in a room, watching a great show. RIP Mark!

Nostalgia of sorts. I remember being super young and my mom and aunt would be ready on the couch, with a bowl of popcorn each, ready for this show to start on the living room old school tube TV, like it was ritual. I was banished to my room so that I wouldn't bother them during the show.

Ground-breaking show. The epitome of cool. And made use of the music of the time to help with the story-telling. Quintessential 80's. A TV show with movie flair. If you didn't see it already, it is worth a watch.
Agreed on a great moment of nostalgia. This show defined Friday nights with its stylistic, gritty and contemporary music-driven action. Season 1 was absolutely era-defining. Subsequent seasons never captured the writing of the first but still great TV. Thx!
Worth mentioning that this release has the original music by the original artists, and that some of those famous names are either live music with the artist "performing in a Miami club" or also feature the artist as a character in that episode.
Beyond the musicians, you'll be surprised how many actors guest starred in an episode or two before they were big names. Wesley Snipes, Helena Bonham Carter, Vincent D'Onofrio, just to name the few I can remember in the last few episodes I have watched.
does anyone know if this has the episode "Evan"? there is something going on with that one where its not included in another set, maybe because of music rights but it is one of the best episodes of the series

Its on there! Best Blu Ray release ever!! Perfect in every way.
Yes!! I remember in my college days I bought a stereo TV and Miami Vice was one of the only shows broadcasting in stereo at the time. Such an incredible show with everything that was great about the 80's.
I bought and have seen most of the disks in this set. Great to have for when it isn't streaming or incomplete online. But you also don't have commercials.
