It's hard to trust anybody who says anything without an explanation.

For anybody else curious, 316 stainless has a minimum of 2% molybdenum, which gives it excellent resistance against chlorides and salt.

If you are using this to hold up a loose exhaust and you happen to live in an area where they use salt during winter, 316 will prevent you from having to replace it every year. Then again, a 100 pack of 12" 316 ties is closer to $30 (based on my initial searches).

I have a bunch of these and almost every one I installed has fallen off. They must be under constant tension to work. That's how the lock mechanism functions. It is not like a nylon zip tie. The second the lock is not under tension it releases. The tool is what you need to really get the tension to the point where it won't release. But if you are putting it around something flexible then it will eventually come lose on its own. Calling it a zip tie gives people the wrong impression and the false belief it is interchangeable functionally with a zip tie and it is not. It should probably be called something like metal tension band.

I've yet to of tried one of these metal zip ties. I've seen them several times. I own a classic car, one of the exhaust hangers recently broke I did a temporary fix. These seem like it be better to have around for such incidents. In for 1 !

Good info about the 304 vs 316 stainless.

I actually bought these 2years? ago for to replace some straps that broke on some muffler shielding under my car. I just changed my oil a bit over a week ago on my 22yr old car and noticed/admired how nice they still look... newest looking part under my car anyhow Smilie

Also used a few for a garbage can lid... still holding up well.

Still have 80-90 left to use...

In addition to the other suggestions here, these are also good for securing that solar meshtastic device to a pole that, of course, you also own, or have permission to attach to.

Don't forget that you need a ~ $20 tool to tighten these.

A pair of pliers doesn't (have to) cost $20

I have 400mm SS zip ties on a fountain in a pond - better than heavy duty plastic zip zties, even if I have to replace them every 5 years when plastic lasts less than half!
A batch of 300mm should be good for all those other needs then you do not want to replace it often!

But for 50-cents more, you can 10 more at 200mm
