This is .56 per pound. I was just at Home Depot and noted that the normal Kingsford, not competition, is .62 every day price.

So this is a good deal, but not killer, for an everyday grilled like me who doesn't know the difference between regular and competition charcoal. I did see at my HD some brand of XL charcoal briquets that were on clearance and were .50 per pound. Sorry I didn't snap a picture for posting, but .50 didn't seem like a killer deal so it didn't really strike me to post it here. I've always used kingsford and Sam's and Costco tend to have it at every day prices of about .55 or so, so I just buy that barring a great deal elsewhere.

Unfortunately duraflame changed the formula on these newer bags. They don't burn as clean or last as long.

I switched to Cowboy briquettes, $18 for 40lbs at Walmart. They perform just as good as these, but cheaper.

I recently switched from Kingsford to these, and they spark and pop a bit more when pouring them out of the chimney. They do last longer, but probably because they're a bit bigger. Flavor is better for sure due to the incorporated wood. As others have indicated, I don't know why Walmart shows them regularly priced at $31, because I've never seen that price. I've never paid more than $10 per bag.

Side note, I usually indirect cook and add additional chunks of hardwood for smoke and these briquettes are much better for that task.
