Not bad. For about $150 more could buy the phone from Apple, unlocked.

So first month of service is $55 and then it would be (at least) $50/mo after that for the next 11? And after that, the phone is unlocked?

Wondering cuz currently only pay $15/mo for Mint but need a new phone.

Phone service is not required for the remaining 11 months and it will automatically unlocked a year after activation.

Based on past experience, No it cannot be used with any other carrier except "Metro". Not even with T-Mobile

AFAIK the service won't be usable anywhere besides Metro for 12 months. For me it isn't enough of a discount to buy it and toss it in a drawer for a year considering the depreciation.

I'm still crossing my fingers for a decent Mother's Day deal this year from TMO to get my iPhone update (still sitting on my "free" 12 mini for now).

Unfortunately, recent reporting changes suggest that free line and other seasonal/quarterly offers may come less frequently.

Not saying it's a great deal, but you could still use it around the house on WiFi for the year
