Bought mine used on eBay for $30. So for new that's a pretty good deal. I like the tool so far.

I have an older version of this angle grinder. It's been very useful. Mine has been working as expected for many years.
The Ryobi One+ system is good.
Cordless is the only way to go.

I have this grinder I bought last time it went on sale. It does work and is handy not having to drag around a cord but it is nowhere near as powerful as even a really cheap plug-in grinder. So if you are bought into Ryobi (which I am) this is handy to have for certain tasks but will probably not be my go too for heavy grinding.

If you want to use Type 1 cut-off wheels, be advised you will "need" to order a separate, custom guard kit. $24.97 MSRP, but lower from Direct Tools Outlet when they have a sale. I put need in quotes since Ryobi states you "cannot" use Type 1s without the guard. I'm sure many users ignore that "requirement."

Will this grinder cut grind nails or screws. Working on a fence project.

Educate me. Why must you use a type 1 guard for a type 1 cut off wheel? I now the wheels are shaped different. Is this an interference issue?

I have the same grinder and love the Ryobi brand. This isn't so "Hot" of a deal though. More like lukewarm $10 off retail

I have this grinder as well and my experience has been the opposite (definitely more powerful than my really cheap plug-in grinder). My only complaint is that it absolutely chews through batteries. I went through two full 4Ah batteries cutting and grinding ~8 fenceposts (probably <25 minutes of active grind time).

From the manual:

"Use ONLY Type 27 depressed center grinding wheels (such as the one provided with this product). Type 1 straight or cut-off wheels should not be used without the proper guard. Use for any other purpose is not recommended and creates a hazard, which will result in serious injury.

"NOTE: This tool can be used with a Type 1 straight or cut-off wheel if the accessory wheel guard insert is purchased separately as described in the Operation section later in the manual.
Look for the accessory wheel guard (p/n 204772004) online or call 1-800-525-2579"

Ryobi's 4" Angle Grinder will DEFINITELY cut through nails and screws. I took it to work to cut through 3/4" steel bolts. Make sure you've got the right cutting wheels. Smilie

Here's one of the bolts we DIDN'T cut, but you can clearly see the bolts on either side that USED to be there... Outlets are far apart on an airfield so my Ryobi Angle Grinder came in VERY handy.

The brushless one came with a cutoff wheel guard and I love that thing. It also has lasted way way longer than it's had any business to.
