While the person you're replying to is being hyperbolic (and likely trolling), it is true that as the scenario becomes more GPU limited, that the difference in performance between say a 9800x3d and 9700x would be felt less.
In the end, as with anything PC performance related, it just depends on how the specific gamer profiles on whether they are going to benefit from all that extra performance that absolutely is there for the product at the top of Ryzen's stack.
I currently have a 7800X3D, a 5090, 64GB ram, nvme ssd, etc.; wondering if it's worthwhile to upgrade to whatever the current top CPUs are or if I should just wait a bit.
What's the consensus top one or two CPUs (if not this) where the primary intended use is for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (MSFS2024)...in VR? In as close to max settings in VR as possible?

Will you see a significant increase in performance that clearly justifies the $450+ cost? Probably not for most people. But for someone who already bought a 5090 and 64 GB of RAM, you clearly aimed for a top-of-the-line system, so you might as well upgrade the CPU as well.

hilarious that he made a video reading off of graphs. that's just sad.
not from what i'm seeing. more like 0% uplift at 4k.

Assuming the CPU is the bottleneck and not that memory, is the 9850X3d an appreciable difference vs the 9800X3d? Though I suppose you're right; even if not much difference, if I'm aiming for top of the line system, I'll probably just get the 9850X3d anyway. Or wait until the next gen, whenever that might be. Idk.
Here's my exact RAM.
