Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me replies Smilie .. but from my google searching in the past typically the LOQ models have two m2 drive slots...

so these have no igpu, and always run the rtx4050 and thus will have terrible battery life. the cpu is also a 4 core 8 thread cpu.

Strange cpu, 4 core 8 thread. Passmark score 12,400. Ryzen 4000 series is more powerful. I guess with an RTX 4050 it's fine. It's nothing to write home about. If this was a Ryzen 5 6 core 12 thread cpu it would make more sense.

I was surprised there was no iGPU.

But people buying this should just want a cheap gaming laptop to live on a desk, and it should do fine for 1080p. Single-channel 12 GB could be painful until upgraded, but that's the world we live in.

Yeah, if you disable an 8-core die into a 4-core, you'll lose a lot of multithreading performance.

These could be the last quad-core gaming laptops that will ever be made. 7235HS is Rembrandt Refresh from 2023. Zen 4 Phoenix/Hawk Point start at 6 cores for higher TDP H(S) SKUs. Krackan quad-core Ryzen AI 5 330 has a 15-28W TDP range while the other Krackan SKUs have 15-54W.

We might see the return of "H" and "U" designations in the future since having a wide 15-54W TDP range is bad for the consumer. And AMD likes to change naming schemes all the time.

I think I have this one. It has been be short slot and another regular length M2. If you message me I can send a pic. I toyed with trying a full length in the short one. lol. I think one is 4th and the other 3rd gen. I have a 1TB in the short and a 4TB in the larger also 32gb RAM. If I remember correctly the supplied power supply will not charge it while using the GPU. LOL. Hence all the returns. Bought a bigger brick on Amazon and no issues in two years. Nice low level gamer I can use for business as it looks professional. No loud colors or crazy LEDs. I am happy with mine.

All of the specs on this laptop are just barely good enough for a decent FHD gaming laptop. But the price is right for that kind of setup.

If your budget is $500 firm, and you're looking for a gaming laptop today, this is probably the best deal you'll find right now. But there may be more deals coming soon in the $500 range to compete with the Mac Neo.

If you're looking for a laptop that's not for 80%+ gaming usage, you'll find that the battery life and 12GB of RAM are limiting.

Yeah... I restarted just want to get something to play flight simulator on and not and Xbox. I have some of these in my area and have $100 best buy credits/gift card I need to use. I have a m4pro 24gb ram mbp, surface7 laptop... And other devices. I just want a gaming computer as my desktops are out of spec/date. I would take a cheap respectable gaming laptop.

I don't have time to game in real life. I buy the consoles and they all sit. So I do not need a really nice gaming rig... I want a capable device to use when I can. Flight simulator is all I will use

BB OpenBox is awesome. I always get Fair and check it there right in the store and so far it's always "almost new" at the cheapest price.

They said they just labeled it in different grades just to have diff prices to clear out the inventory. Some may have been floor models though so do take good look at the machine when you pick i up.
