For basic fishing on the shore is 8-10 lb to high test? I mean catching a 1 lb bass would be huge for me lol
the weight of the fish may be fine, but are you casting near/into any weeds or things that you get snagged on? if so, then you may want a bit stronger line so it doesn't snap while you're fighting wish that are caught up in the vegetation. if you're just casting into pretty open water with rocky bottoms instead of vegetation, then this is probably just fine.
braided line has a major advantage of having a much thinner diameter for the same strength. for example, this 10lb diameter is the same as about 2-4lb mono/flouro line.

Braid floats, mono doesn't.
braided line has a major advantage of having a much thinner diameter for the same strength. for example, this 10lb diameter is the same as about 2-4lb mono/flouro line.
