So there's this Youtuber whose studio tour video caught my attention today, and he mentioned that he uses the Yamaha HS8's studio monitors as his daily driver. I'm just curious to know how the ones in the OP compare to those...

I don't have experience with these but I have some of the jbl 8 and 5s. Often the sound will be somewhat similar with the 8s having more low end. Sometimes 5 in speakers with a sub will do the trick and take up a lot less desk space.

I have the HS5 monitors, and I love them! I use them every day to mix my compositions, listen to music, stream videos, and watch movies. I used to own KRKs, and like these more. Definitely a solid set of speakers for the 300-dollar range. The audio interfaces I am using are the Volt 1 (studio) and the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th gen (office).

Here's my music if you're interested:

Are these good for daily PC usage like zoom meetings, music, YouTube videos, etc?

I saw the same video but these are just too big for my desk.

That was MKBHD. The channel did another video where they tried to replace his very expensive desk set up with a more affordable set of equipment. They used these speakers as a swap for his HS8s, FWIW. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMp3TPlEBQg

Got an old pair of M-audio BX5a, they seem to work fine, are HS5 substantially better?
