I have a riding mower but I bought this 13" a few years back to get into very small areas, under pine trees, etc. and I really like it. I suppose you can just use a string trimmer but the mower has a bag which is great for picking up leaves. I also have a Craftsman 21" gas mower but I haven't used it since buying the tiny Ryobi - I call it my Fisher-Price mower. 😁

I have a Litheli 13" mower, and although I've upgraded to a larger battery mower, the bagger works very well and is why it's better compared to a string trimmer. $279 though, that's too much.

I have a very small yard. I originally bought an 18v mower - its size doesn't matter. The 18V batteries were burning up because of the summer heat and throughput, especially if the grass is wet or very green. Do yourself a favor and just get the 40V mower. 18v is fine for blowers and trimmers but not for grass mowing. 40v Ryobi mowers are just fine.
