So after buying 4 electric bikes (of various specs and designs) and 2 electric scooters I've started to be able to give some advice from experience. So looking this over it looks pretty ok. 500w nominal wattage rear hub motor is average and fine. It's not speedy, it'll be fine doing 20 mph. But I'd save my money and go with a Qlaway BK20 from Amazon for $660. Or if I was looking to spend closer to $1000 I'd go with a Jasion RetroVolt Pro from Amazon for $899. $1299 is too steep for what Costco is selling. If you're really wanting a step through I'd go with the Jasion Thunder ST for $879.

I would pass but that's me. You can get better specs with a reputable company, 2 year warranty and ul certified Samsung/LG battery for the same or slightly more money. One brand I highly recommend is velotric, they have a great dealer network and I have had an awesome experience with them. I have pushed mine HARD and above it's limits on capacity way too many times and it has not given me any guff. I did have 1 thing go wrong but Customer service was great and got the part out ASAP. If I went through my dealer it probably would have been even quicker.

The big thing that's published is missing is to talk about the brakes. The Costco one has hydraulic while the Amazon bikes that this company post is recommending are mechanical. Two things if you have mechanical you're not going to stop as fast, which one you're going 30 mph might be an issue. Also, you're going to crush through the mechanical brakes which isn't a big deal but you're gonna have to get them replaced a lot more than hydraulic. One hydraulic does finally need to be tuned up, it's definitely a job. You're probably not going to be able to do yourself.

Good catch. All the ones that I've bought are all mechanical brakes none are hydraulic brakes I've had no problem stopping with the mechanical one so far. Maybe that's a upgrade that I'm going to be seeking out in the future. For right now the mechanical ones are working just fine but with time and experience I might want better.
