I really like this guitar. I know that some people like the CRKD ones. I haven't tried those. But the PDP one feels like the OG Rock Band guitars which were the last ones I used.
I have not used these on console. I have only used them on PC, and I got two of the Xbox versions. To get them set up was a process, but once I did, they work great. The only current issue is that the Microsoft Game Input program seems to interfere with them. It's easily uninstalled but tends to reinstall itself every few days. I have to uninstall it every time I want to use the guitars.
Apparently it's a known issue. I don't know if it will be fixed any time soon. But other than that, guitar has been working great.
There are two problems I've encountered:
1: turning the guitar vertical for "star power" doesn't work reliably in any game on either guitar. You can map one of the d pad buttons to activate it, but if you're playing a difficult expert song, its a pretty sure way to miss a note exactly when you don't want to miss one.
2: the connection gets crossed occasionally. I'm not 100% sure what does it, but it feels like if you use the joystick one on guitar, it then registers the green presses from the other guitar. It happens randomly other times too. Obviously this ruins the gameplay for both guitars. This can be fixed by removing the other guitar and reconnecting it, but it's a huge pain and really ruins the experience, especially when it happens in the middle of a song. It's infrequent enough that I'd definitely still recommend these. I THINK it's because both a controller and a guitar can be assigned to one player, and they swap back and forth if you use the controller - there are no issues here...but I think it gets messed up if you use or bump the guitar joystick.
If anybody else has a fix for this, I'd love to hear it!
That being said, the guitars are great and feel good. The absolutely do the job. If I were playing the old games back in the day and was really into beating my friends, issue 2 would drive me insane. Now I mostly play with my kids and wife and we just have fun with it, so it's not the end of the world.

People should grab these while they can, both PDP and CRKD seem to be coming down in price and I'd bet demand will continue to reduce as they delist RB4 music due to licenses expiring and RB4 can no longer be bought except on secondary markets for big $$$. I'm unclear on whether Fortnite Festival is popular enough to sustain an instrument ecosystem.
