On monkeytype, on my Macbook air I got 81WPM with 94% accuracy. On the HP, I got 91WPM with 97% accuracy. I like the feel of the Macbook keyboard better, but can totally type on the HP fine. My daughter got similar results using the Monkeytype test on all three (My Macbook, her ThinkPad, this new HP). So I think the keyboard is learnable. She did ever so slightly better on her current ThinkPad that she's had for 4 years, but it was in the same ballpark.
Daughter set it up tonight. Says the keyboard is fine (she has a Lenovo ThinkPad for high school currently, which are usually known to have good keyboards.). She thinks there is less key travel on the HP than on the current Thinkpad, and on the HP the keys almost touch each other (no big gap between keys as say on a MacBook. But again, she thinks she'll be able to type just fine on it.
