Can someone comment if this is a good deal? I'd prefer a small high quality set with a case - but open to having more sockets if that's useful for my limited household use. Happy to pay more money for something else if this is junk.

this is the lowest price you can get for this amount of socket. I got one myself when it is around $45, and even then, it was the best deal you can get for this amount of sockets and non-skipping size. Quality are pretty decent as well. Fyi, these sockets wall are quite thick, even for impact socket standard, which are good due to heavier weight, but might be a trouble to access narrow holes, such as for lug nut. Also, this is VERY heavy set. You might have to consider getting a separate cases if you bring this around a lot. The case is quite decent, but again, this is a really damn big and heavy set. I fixed car on my drive way and even then, taking this set down from the shelf is a hassle.

I recently used this set to do some front suspension work and they held up well. They feel extremely solid and the amount of sockets you get is crazy at this price point. To give you an idea of the value, I paid ~$7 for one Craftsman 19mm socket prior to buying this set. It's nice having almost all sizes in one case so you don't have to buy multiple sets or individual sockets. As tinhipvt said, it's a heavy set at ~33 pounds.

Probably fine for household use. That said, cheap "impact" sockets are Cr-V (chrome vanadium), what shiny non-impact sockets are made from. Strong, but hard, meaning more likely to crack if used on an impact.

Real impact sockets are Cr-Mo (chrome molybdenum), which is softer/tougher to better handle impacts. These cheap ones are a semi-porous black oxide/phosphate coating made to look like Cr-Mo impacts, and also hold an oil film.

So for a home gamer they probably won't break any time soon (I use cheap "impacts" on my cars), but they are slightly messy to handle.

I agree with what all the other commenters are saying. I got it for maybe a couple bucks more than this deal. It has plenty of sockets and adapters to cover a lot of what you might need for basic home/auto maintenance. It is heavy though so if I know what I'm going to need, I usually just grab those sockets instead of carrying the whole thing unnecessarily

i bought this set on BF and it handles the lugs on my cars just fine. can't be beat at this price, even by harbor freight, unless you value the ability to replace broken sockets by bringing them into the store (which VEVOR does not have)

I got this when it was 50 something and was truly amazed with its quality. It is like 20 lbs! This is a great price for it and everything you need for DIY is there, including very large sockets which alone would go for 10 at Lowes when you need that size for an odd job.

For "limited household use" you are better off with this 145 piece Amazon Basics Set:

Not too bad for $48 bucks.
Cheers!

This is a good deal for a complete set of sockets. If you need something more serious than this, you probably already have it.

How do you get from a 1/2" impact socket set to that as a recommendation? I'd buy the 1/2 " impact socket set all day long. Used it for several automotive use cases and it did not disappoint. If you think you might need it buy it at $38.

How?
The guy was asking for "limited household use" recommendations.
Do you assemble furniture or repair small household items with 1/2" drive sockets?
That's clearly "nuts"
And for "heavy duty" repairs, I use CR-MO sockets.
CR-V sockets are simply not suitable for impact wrenches and tend to bust.
Chrome Vanadium vs. Chrome Molybdenum

There's a reason this set sells for $38 bucks. ;-)
I would not recommend it for household use or heavy duty applications.
Cheers!

I too got this set for a few dollars more - and just recently used it for suspension work on my personal car. For the price this cannot be beat. Drove me nuts looking for that odd ball socket (suspension work will do that to you) and this set has it all - metric and SAE in both short and long, with no skips. It checked all of my boxes, I was impressed with it. If I were a professional mechanic I'd probably buy this for the forty bucks and slide it under my tool box - as a "just in case" resource.

I'm getting additional charges of $5.75 added to order. Is this normal for everyone? This is much more sales tax than it should be

I have this set. It's very solid. I wasn't expecting much but was surprised by the quality. I forgot to set the clutch on my drill for a project and the socket in this set sheered the bolt head off the bolt but didn't bend or warp the socket or socket adapter at all.

Because these and the chromes he linked are the same material (Cr-V / chrome vanadium), which isn't ideal for impact use but probably fine for most home users. Another recommendation is to buy standard Harbor Freight sockets (Quinn etc), and have the lifetime warranty if you ever break one.
