Not normally a big silk printer, but silk black is a pretty awesome color for a lot of stuff. Even more functional prints

It appears to be 5 1kg spools, not a single 5kg spool. Also, 50x toughness than regular PLA? What the what???

Got copper silk last sale and prints great! Spools are a bit deformed from the vacuum seal but after drying the filament in AMS they straightened out. Good deal.

Okay, that's it... I'm deleting my filament alert. I need more filament like I need a hole in the head. Sigh, repped for unrelated reasons. Definitely didn't buy more. Nope.

Sounds like marketing. Not even sure I would want a PLA spool to be 50x more "tough", you're probably trading a positive for a negative if it was even true.

I'm in the same boat, I literally don't have room for another single roll right now. Pains me to pass on all these that are $6-7 a roll.

I've got at least five spools of every available color of this Geeetech silk PLA -- some colors 10 or more -- and it's amazing. This is a bargain. Considering buying even more but don't know what colors I could even remotely justify. If you're on the fence, just do it.

I have kingroon silk black. It's just a little shinier than regular pla black right? I would rate the scale matte black, pla black, silk black, petg black (petg black much shinier). The only reason I ask is because silk black has actually been my least used silk and youre saying it's your favorite. From my understanding silk's are structurally weaker so it's worse for functional prints, and the positive trade off is only slightly more shine.

Yeah. That's where I'd put it too. I've also found the silk inter layer strength to be stronger than basic pla

Interesting. I've never personally tested it, but from everything I've read, silks are weaker in every way.

Much like real silk, silk filaments are made to look nice, not to hold up to regular functional use. They're generally not as strong as their non-silk basic counterparts. Like with most materials/finishes, there are tradeoffs between appearance, functionality, durability, etc.
