Assuming this is as sketchy as it seems? Have bought a lot of cheap generic electronics from AE, never something like this though

Can't resist at this price. I wonder how I can verify it's genuine.

Is this the lowest the 3S has been? I'm kinda tempted to ditch Steam Frame if this is how low these things are gonna go, I'll still wait for the Frame to launch just to be sure.

Like, I was pretty dead set on Steam Frame but more and more I realize its not ideal for how I like to use VR... I don't gain anything from being wireless, that infact adds more cost and hassle to me. I don't like charging vr headsets, nor the limited battery on Frame (3hrs streaming at most), which would require additional bulky batteries, their added costs and hassle of managing charges. Not for me. I want a wired PCVR first and foremost. Steam Frame has no way WIRE connect to a PC, since its economically built, i.e. nothing extra, Fully Focused on Streaming (3 Hrs worth) and Wireless Onboard compute (which runs for a whopping 1 hour). Big Meh from me on that for myself, everything else about it is so stellar, the optics, the steam integration/no meta bs, fov'eated rendering is an absolute gamechanger. But fk me I cant get past the Battery reliance.

I was semi interested in the Viture line of glasses, while not the same as PCVR, they are so useful as a supplemental set, atleast for my use, Training/Tutorial media consumption and creative productivity uses, could grab one for like $140 it seems, but their proprietary adapters are such a rip off, $50 for a charging adapter so I can plug it into my Note Phone for Dex while getting charged, and like 70 or 80 for the unweildy HDMI adapter (since my 3080 doesn't have a USB-C with Display Port output). Basically a closed hardware/peripheral ecosystem. Get the glasses cheap, but spend a ton more on the stupid peripherals where you're better off spending the same on an actual quality VR set.

The Quest 3S somehow seems to hit all the Checkboxes for me (almost). At this price point, for PCVR and Media Consumption or Productivity, with No Power hassle ($25 for a number of third party USB-C cable with a power injector for PCVR without battery drain). And has onboard compute, not to mention that exclusive Piano learning app I've been really enamored by. Leading Hand/Finger Tracking tech, arguably the best Controllers (the Steam Frame ones are allegedly cheap and lacking). The only issue, and its a supermassive one... is Meta. The account requirement, which sure, you can make a dummy account, but its still Meta collecting all sorts of data every time you're using it for 'analytics'. I don't trust them. Unless there's a jailbreak... I don't think I can go their route. (though maybe its possible to keep it offline if you're doing Wired PCVR? Google AI says sure outside of periodic updates, but its Meta... how much can I trust its not leaking data periodically when it does see a connection to server)

I'm sorry, I've talked myself in a circle and none of the options are good as I lay it out.

Steam, why did you have to lean so hard on Wireless Only?! The Frame was supposed to be the ONE. But, actual PCVR enthusiasts would probably prefer a wired connection's stability and unparalleled latency. Like I'm not playing competitive games in VR, but I can't imagine something like Racing games will funciton well in any Streaming environment, Foveated or not, it can't beat Wired. Not to mention Battery reliance.

and Meta. Get your head out of my a-hole with your ANALitic collections. You bought Oculus, made enormous strides in the tech at such an appealing price point, then squandered it all into spyware garbage.

sigh....

Now I'm back to thinking the stupid expensive Big Screen Beyond 2 is the only real option. sigh. sigh. sigh. sigh.

Where did you read that the steam frame would be exclusively wireless? If it has a USB c charging port, why wouldn't we be able to use that for wired PCVR? Sure, the frame may be focusing on streaming, but I've read nothing that indicates it's streaming only.

Had shitty experience with ali express. Scammer will ship a rock to another address and Ali express will say delivered. Even if it doesn't go to your address.

Don't do it, I bought a radar detector from aliexpress 2 years ago, it never delivered. Sketchy seller found a tracking number for some other shipment into my same city. Post office gave me a letter saying it never delivered to my house, that the tracking number went to a different address, Ali didn't care and scammed me out almost $300.

I had exactly the same. Had proof from the post office, Ali didn't care...

Does it mention how many this seller has sold?
On the website it has a checkmark next to 'Shipped by global sellers', so not usa?

I don't think this is true, you can use 3rd party adapters with any of the main brands (Viture, xreal, Rayneo) including USB-C and HDMI ones.
