Way better in my opinion. Had many of both Motorola and Samsungs (Power, Plays, A15 A16 ect) in this price range and the Samsungs run way smoother even though in many cases the specs on paper are better on the Rolas.

Great deal for a backup phone, kept in drawer... There, in event your primary is lost, stolen, broken. At the end of the year, eBay the unlocked A16 for what you paid for it, or a couple dollars more.

BTW... I've read that the A16 gets 6 years of OS updates from Samsung.

What happened to his phone number? it sounds like it couldn't be ported to Mint? But was the number then returned to Tracfone properly? And if it was, couldn't he just try requesting unlock again?
Tracfone ended up restoring his phone# (not sure if it was considered port-in) but he had to start a new subscription - which means it will be another 365 days before his phone can be unlocked. Tracfone did replace his 3-year-old Blu budget phone with a new locked budget phone for free. His new subscription was only for a month, he is considering to switch to Mint one-year unlimited + Samsung A16 for $181 prepaid or Mint one-year unlimited + Samsung A17 for $200 prepaid.

dude, you went from the A15 which has a very good camera to the Power 2024 which has a poor camera? I had both. The cameras on these Moto's are one of their glaring weak spots, especially with the jello effect video.
I have to say neither Samsung A15's nor Moto G Power 2024's camera impressed me. Big Grin Fortunately neither of them was/is my primary phone. Thanks for pointing out the jello effect. I did take my Moto G Power to my busy downtown festival last weekend and shot multiple street walking videos, they are good enough as 'home videos'. I have not noticed the jello effect (yet).

Thanks, I just ordered 3 for my wife, I and our son. This is a great deal for us. It gives us an additional year of service. We'll also be upgrading from Adreno 610 Moto G. We will get 5G on these new ones, which will allow my son to use the phone when he goes to Germany. (current one wouldn't work) Storage will double from 64GB to 128GB. Charging goes from 15W to 25W. Android 14 to Android 16. IPS display to AMOLED. 270ppi to 385ppi. Resolution from 720x1600 pixels to 1080x2340 pixels. 500 nits brightness to 824 nits, so it will be easier to see the new one in broad daylight. Multi core cpu score will increase by 33%. 3Dmark score increases from 641 to 1,385. The only thing I don't like is that the Galaxy A16 doesn't have a headphone jack, but I can get a USB C adapter. Overall, it looks like a really decent upgrade, and I sort of feel like I'm getting it free, just paying for a year of service.
If you are going to buy 3 total, why not get one (1) A16 and two (2) Moto G Power bundle at this link:

I think the Moto G Power is a bit faster (8GB RAM) vs A16 only has 4GB RAM.
Also Moto G Power is brand new vs A16 is refurbished.
Moto G power also comes with headphone jack

I bought a QVC one year deal in the past. After 2 months it unlocked. I had purchased another moto g and figured i would swap phones to get the new one unlocked after two more months. Some said that wouldn't work. Anyway they had a problem with their system. My phone was off for about a week and they deactivated my phone when i tried to switch to my new phone. I tried chatting a few times. Finally after the week the rep was able to restore my line and transfer service to the new phone. She hooked me up with the 3gb plan.. this was just a back up plan. I don't even really want or need it. I checked the phone earlier and it network unlocked without even being on this plan for 60 days. I think it was on a a 30 day plan a long time ago. Like 6 months ago. I sold phone one for like 80 or 100 bucks after having bought it for like 40 i think? I'm going to try to get these other phones put into their system to unlock.. And swap this one out.. And hopefully sell it.

TracFone recently changed their policy, no longer automatically unlock after 60 days, but you will have to submit a request to unlock after 365 days.

And the phone will need to be on an active plan for the 365 days - by the time most inexpensive TF models qualify for unlocking the phones won't even be worth reselling.

IMO motorola Deal is better, Moto G Power 2024 is 3 times faster than this laggy phone, the only cons will be won't get the lastest Android anymore, but that will make this phone just even slower.

I had the A15 for a while and for a lot of people, this is one of those phones which gets you into the android world and people think, "oh I don't need a $1700 iPhone, when this can do it all." but after a few months the experience it leaves such a sour experience that you end up switching over to the latest top of the line iPhone and never look back at android.

4GB is NOT enough in 2026. Android uses nearly 3GB alone. Using the CALCULATOR is enough for this phone to start dumping background data. Every single time you minimize an app it'll have to reload it from scratch because THERE ISN'T ENOUGH RAM. My 8 year old phone with 6GB of ram operates significantly smoother than this E-waste A16 4GB of a phone.
I have an Android phone with 2GB of RAM, and my girlfriend has one too, and neither of us has ever had an issue with enough RAM, including use of the camera! The brand of phone is the issue and NOT the RAM, in addition I wonder if you ever keep your phone clean of clutter. Go to XDA developers for help

LOL! LOL! My Samsung does great with 2GB! Phones are like cars. You must continuously maintain them, or like most people, keep buying cheap phones and expect them to perform like a Samsung Galaxy S25! The old adage."You get what you pay for"

4gb ram, 128gb storage. Nowhere does it say 8gb storage. These can also accept a 1.5 TB microSD card.Specs seem very usable. Bought one to put away as a backup and to store media simply because it can take microSD cards; I have multiple iPhones and they can't.

Not familiar with the TracFone billing structure. Is this good for a year subject to the 1500 limits or is there the monthly cost as well?
No extra monthly cost. This is good for people that don't talk or text much and either don't need much data or are primarily using it while on WiFi.
