can i port numbers for these, and use sim in an unlocked (verizon) iphone?
You can port in a number AT ACTIVATION, not after activating the phone with a number. Tracfone pairs the SIM to the original phone and doesn't allow SIM-swapping. But you can get a BYOP TF SIM Kit, put the SIM from that kit into your unlocked iPhone, then transfer service from the Moto phone to the iPhone. All that could be done online by DIY before, but on 2/11/26 TF made a lot of changes to their system and many online functions no longer work, have to contact TF support to do them for you.

Software update will end at the end of March 2027. After that, no security fix. This phone was released two years ago.

Can you wait to activate the second phone until the contract of the first one runs out? Does anyone know? So basically just get 2 years of service or do you have to use both phones at once for the 1 year? thank you ahead of time.

365 Days of Paid Service. So the Bundled 1 year does not count.
Why not?

No. It's unlocked 1 yr after activating. paid service is the 1 year of service included in the deal.

You can activate them as two lines, each with one year of service, and both will be unlocked after 365 days. You can also active phone #1, then active phone #2 with a transfer from phone #1. Doing it that way, phone #2 will have two years of service, and 3000 minutes/3000 texts/3GB of data. But phone #1 won't be unlocked because it's not active for 365 days.
Why not? Both are activated. Transferring to the other phone does not de activated the 2nd phone. It can be still used as a wifi calling phone. Both should be unlocked after 1 yr.

The new TF Unlocking policy that they put in place on 1/20/26 requires one year of ACTIVE service. When you transfer service from phone #1 to phone #2, then phone #1 is no longer active. Before the new policy, TF used to unlock phones 60 days after activation even when service was transferred out.

Do you have a source for that? The bundled plan has always counted in the past, since way before Tracfone even started the 60 day policy that recently ended.

When tracfone changed service to 60 days of paid service sometime last year, the bundled plans no longer counts. I have had this on two different occasions and had to do the 15$ plan for 2 months to unlock devices.

My experience was different, I unlocked multiple tracfones that shipped with the 1 year service at their 60 day mark.

Of course, no one truly knows how this new plan will be applied until we hit one year.
