Surprising to see how much of a price drop this handheld has gotten after only being released in Dec. Although, I am aware it's by way of a promo code, that still doesn't take away from the point I'm making.

3rd party firmware helps these a lot. Wish they'd put a faster CPU though.

Great just grabbed it in blue. I recommend everyone loads Rocknix firmware on this so it can run at full speed for DS games using the Drastic DS emulator on that OS. I was also about to get a $15 off $90 in my account and used coin (I had 97 coins) check out for a total off $15.97 off

Is this more comfortable than a 3DSXL? The last time I tried to play one of those as an adult, my hands cramped up immediately and I simply couldn't play it.

Passed on this when it first came out, but the community released a custom firmware that really turned this into a usable device.

I'm taking a chance at this price.

3DS. I had one for a few days, and it gets hot and has pretty rough battery life. It needed just a slightly beefier CPU.

This device is.... okay. It can only do NDS and not even well. Third party firmware has nearly saved the device (this is an excellent video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0eckrNxbzY but you need to be tech savvy enough to handle this kind of thing to justify it.

For the price, it's decent if you have a strong focus on DS emulation, as it's the cheapest dual-screen device you're going to get for a while. But if DS and 3DS are your interest, the AYN Thor is a must-buy. It's significantly more, but the far superior device. It's an "end game" handheld for many, and 100% lives up to the hype.

Ah ok, will be nice when these cheapies advance enough to cover the entire retro spectrum.

Huh? What Anbernic dual screens have have a T820? Last I checked the RG DS was the only handheld in the category.

*Now, I'd love a RGDS-ish unit with a T820 but unless I am really behind the times that beast doesn't exist (nor has its release been hinted at).

I don't think it ever was meant to be a 3DS device, it is an RGDS after all, not a RG3DS. And yes, Anbernic has some prelaunch previews showing it playing really light 3DS games...which it can do but the reddit hivemind (and every major reviewer...PRE-LAUNCH) seem to decide a random clip of a random 3DS game, meant "the entire 3DS library and upscaled 4x." Which personally is a giant and rather unfair leap.

The RG DS handles 99% of Nintendo DS (and down) wonderfully, anyone who tells you otherwise is just repeating what they have been told to think based on prelaunch "reviews" or the reddit hivemind.

That being said, I'd love a $150 version of this handheld that could play 3DS though. That would be like a Thor-lite for those of us who don't need a $400 handheld for Switch, PC, etc (That being said...I do have a Thor on order)

*I will say I think the RG DS is far bigger than it needs to be. It is NOT pocketable unless you are rocking JNCO's or huge cargo pockets. That was my deal killer.
