How would it not work? They package it securely just like anything else. I bought a snake grass plant off of Amazon 5 years ago and it just came in a box with cardboard stabilizers so the plant stayed stationary while in transit. Still alive today.
Costco return policy is also great when the plant dies a few years later, just have to endure their dirty look and the scolding you get about "you know we can only this return this time as an exception but keep in mind our CEO frowns upon returning items we no longer have in stock, you sders are preventing him from buying a new private plane and a yacht, he can only afford t get 1 or the other now"

No offense to anyone, OP included... But honestly, for me, it's just like fresh fruits and vegetables: I gotta pick 'em up turn 'em around and get a good look at them (and touch/thump the fruits/veggies). I don't trust some stranger in a warehouse to give me the "best one of the bunch." And I'm gonna drive it home carefully without dropping it or crushing it under other heavy boxes.... Just sayin'.... I'm sure that the "bare root" or "potted" plant you order on-line will probably be just fine. But could it have been better?
