I had seen this as of yesterday afternoon. Weirdly enough, I had already received a haircut earlier in the month. I paid like $18 and $4 tip.

What kind of shady barbershops have you been to? One reason they may not take credit is because they do not have to report earnings to IRS. If you give them cash, do they give you a receipt if you request it?

What I would do using this coupon is this:
Haircut at the location near me is $18. I get the haircut and they use the coupon, $18-13 = $5. I want it to be worth my time and their time. I give them $2.50 in cash (pay the $13 in credit) and pocket the other $2.50 in discount form. Everybody wins!
