A lot of municipalities give away compost or mulch in the spring some its year round may wish to check with your local government.

Seeing 2.50 for me in the tri-state area, but like others are saying, this usually happens in early April, and pretty sure it was $2 last year. $2.50 is still cheap, so I'm just gonna do it.

Thanks. Saved me 40 bucks as I had already placed a pick up for 80 bags for 2.50 on Saturday. Canceled and rebought this one. I know that a truckload of bulk mulch is supposedly better, but our mulch delivery folks have went way up on delivery cost. Plus these bags are so much easier to put out. I don't usually have to hire extra help.

As that said yes, $2.5 a bag is still a deal(not great). Get more you think you need if you never mulch an area. Takes probably 2-3x more than you think you can cover an area.

Agree that this sale is probably too early for me where I live, but it seems they plan the sale around Easter. Last year Easter was late April, so the sale was about a week prior. Same as it is now with this sale.

I guess they think people want their lawn mulched for Easter guests and the actual weather outside isn't a factor.

So, in case you don't know, Colored Mulch contains high levels of inorganic arsenic. Most of this stuff is made from pressure treated wood! So, if you have well water or plan on ever-growing some kind of food crop, don't use this stuff. Also, if you have kids or pets that will be in the yard, don't use this stuff. Lastly, inorganic arsenic is a naturally occurring element that does not decompose or biodegrade, meaning it persists in the soil indefinitely unless removed. It is expected to remain in the upper layers of contaminated land for hundreds of years!
