Seems like a fine deal. I got three of the G4's a year and a half ago on a huge deal and they included the "free installation" as well. I am very cheap and hated the thought of hiring a TV installation person for $200 or $300 so I loved the idea of the free installation.

Having now gotten three of them installed with their "free installation" service I would say I would gladly pay the $200 or $300 to have professionals mount it.

When they say you get free installation, it just means you get a credit to a task rabbit type service (angi) where anyone can sign up without any verification at all of their skills and say that they are a handyman and have experienced mounting TVs.

Only one of the three installations went OK. And even that one they were rushed and just wanted to get it on the wall and get out of there. The other one ended up mounting it too high and had no clue what he was doing and the other stripped every single screw on the mount and ended up crooked so in order to fix it, I would have to re-mount it at a new location with a brand new mount. Very poor experience.

It's essentially luck of the draw where Angi posts your job to their internal system and any of their workers can "claim" the job. So you may get an expert that has done hundreds of TVs or you may get a meth head who heard they could sign up to Angi to do blue collar work for cash here and there. Unfortunately for me, I received four of the latter (2 people per job).

Not even trying to troll, but if you don't a couple thousand extra in your bank account to cover the cost of the tv while you're waiting for the other refund then you probably shouldn't be buying these TVs.

Probably the best non-bundle deal you're gonna see for this TV

In October there was a deal for this TV bundled with the TV stand, S95TR soundbar, and Xboom bounce speaker for $2285.10 - which we'll probably never see a deal like that again for the G5.


But this is still a great price for just the TV by itself.

The G Series OLEDs come with a 5 year panel warranty from LG, although after the first year if you need to have the panel replaced, you'll need to pay for the labor.

The Assurion warranty is pretty much pointless for this TV unless you're worried the main board or something will randomly fry out within 3 years - which is not known to happen with these TVs.

The only "extended warranty" that is worth buying for these sort of TVs is the 5-year Best Buy Geek Squad Warranty because if the TV ever has a problem that's too expensive for them to fix (like a panel issue), they'll simply replace your G5 with whatever current year model is available at that time (so a G9 for instance if you file the claim in 2029). But obviously you can only get those extended warranties when buying a TV from Best Buy.

The 83 is in fact being discounted
3149.99 for the 83 inch right now. The cost to value obviously favors 77 but right now the difference is sitting at <$1000 so worth consideration

I literally just pulled the trigger on the 77Z8BA last night! Delivery is scheduled for Saturday. But I was debating between the Pana Z8BA and the 77"G5 after it dropped to $2399. But since I didn't see the promo code, I went with the Panny. Should I cancel my order and hope the funds get returned quickly (don't have enough $$ to cover both)?! Or should I just take delivery of the Z8BA and see how I like it?
Any advice is appreciated.

It depends on how you mounted it. The mourning points on the C5 are near the bottom of the panel whereas the Gallery Series OLEDs have the mounting points in the middle of the panel.

Yeah, Ive been kicking myself since october for not getting the 65 " for 1699 with the soundbar too. Just bought the 65 for 1799 plus tax. that madness77 doesnt seem to work on the 65, but I'm fine with it. I have a 65 G4 and really can't even see a difference between it and a friends G1, so I'm sure I'll be fine with a G5 in my other room for 1855 with tax. Now I need to grab a samsung Q990F during the next good sale.
